Ignition not switched on, these pop up where the trip counter is. Can't find them in the book, or online. Can you tell me what they mean?

It's the 3 rear seat belt check which will go out shortly after starting the car. Nothing to worry about all is good. System check only.

Do they not also indicate which belts are fastened or not? So that you know if the rear seat passengers have fastened their belt?

Yes correct.

If they are done up the corresponding icon has a seat belt strap diagonally across it.
