What is included or which parts are changed when Skoda replaces 1.8TSI "base" engine.

Featured Replies

I bought a Skoda Superb 1.8TSI MT 2012 model on 2019 October with 73k kms in ODO. Then i went to Skoda Workshop and searched for the service history and came to know that there was a major engine repair on 2017 with 47k kms . It included a new base engine replacement with some gaskets and some new bolts. It stated that there was a problem of misfiring and coolant leak for which they replaced the base engine. I want to know that which parts are changed when a "base" engine is replaced? And is it a good thing as i got the car with an engine which has been driven for only 26k kms run or its someting to be taken care of or take any precautions? Kindly elabote on this topic anyone who knows about it . I would be very grateful to you all. Thanks in Advance.

This engine is know to have bottom end issues becoming bad oil burners and fixing involves replacing with later version of pistons, rings and I think con rods. If you have a revised later engine with a low mileage and it's not burning oil then I'd say happy days.
