VRs Rear Anti Roll Bar Upgrade

Featured Replies

yeah.

I'm going the full coilover route so I've got the thickest bars on order too.

If you were you stay on oem shocks then I guess you could say you'd either just get the rear done and keep original front, or a step up might be the 38851-2 (26/24).

Maybe going 28/26 with standard suspension might be a bit ott? Not sure

You could also argue that the full coil over setup is stiff enough so a more modest AR bar is suitable.

You dont want to go too firm else you will lose grip and make the car into a bone shaker. Grip is generated by movement in the suspension. I always refer to how much movement BTCC cars have when warming up. The nose pitches and rolls as they warm the tyres up. People make the mistake of making the car too firm and can make the car handle worse.

Also true. Which is why I went with H&R coilovers which are supposedly less stiff. H&R anti roll bars aren't crazy, aimed at fast road/light track use anyway (not full on racecar)

Whiteline RARB fitted today, could say its amazing weather to be testing the limits of grip

First impression even in these wintery conditions is that the rear definitely feels tighter and that wallowing feeling the standard setup has is not there, noticeably turn in feels that little bit sharper/ responsive.

Once the roads dry out... should be able to give it a proper test. Thanks to all for the advice by the way, much appreciated

Fitted my Whiteline rear ARB yesterday along with new drop links and all new fittings. Took measurements on both sides to ensure everything was parallel and centred. Took the car out to make sure it felt OK and you can definitely feel the difference.

Glad I bought new drop links as getting one of the old ones off would have been impossible without breaking it.

Looks great, and definitely on my mods list...!

Finally did the RARB upgrade and I'm super happy with the results. Went for a whitelines bar, and the difference is night and day.

Most obvious on sharp turns and roundabouts, but generally feels more planted and consistent.

Makes a big difference to wheel hop and getting the power down running approx 440bhp and same torque helps loads
