Bosch radiator fan for Felicia - help wanted

Featured Replies

Dear folks i want your help for clarification upon Bosch radiator fan for my Felicia.

The factory gives as original code the 6U0 959 453 B but while searching the market i have found that Bosch produces such fans 250/150W 280mm but with 2 codes.

0130 107 262: Not for cold climates

0130 109 237: for cold climates (a little bit higher price)

The weird is that the local Skoda dealers and the spare part stores sell the 0130109237 model although here in Greece we have high temperatures.

Here is the 0130109237 ''edition" made in Brasil with sticker

The made in Germany has no sticker and the code is engraved in the back.

Does anyone knows what is the specific  difference? (it's not something obvious like a thermostat 'C for example)

Since they have 2 scales is there a specific difference winch is crucial in performance?

I guess motor cooling or blade desing for different amount of airflow

I wonder what is different for this model and the dealers sell it in a different price "Not for cold climates" ?

6U0959455C: Radiator fan for vehicle use in warm climates

has 4 White colour blades only

6U0959453B: Radiator fan for vehicles with air condition

has 6 Black colour blades

but in the description says that is ''for Cold climates" but what happens when you live in a country with Hot climate and you need the a/c ?

use 6 bladed desing and make the thermoswitch directly control speed 2

This is my previous radiator fan, Bosch 0130 109 237 made in Brasil

By mistake was working mainly in 2nd speed (strong) and with the a/c on was in 1nd speed (low) rarely.

Last about 4 years only, the 2nd speed was ''burned" and the car overheated, thankfully his relay was intact but since no one took the responsibility to ''rebuild' it i had to buy a new one Bosch but made in Germany this time.

No matter if you are in traffic or you have a/c ON always is in 2nd scale?

The weird is that plug was on the fan when i bought the first even the second, when i asked they told me ''is from the company that has the distribution, they put it on".

Ac controls both speeds.
Thermoswitch directly controls speed two

This is the made in Germany model, same code.

As you can see this too has the plug on when i bought it and again the seller told me: ''is from the company that has the distribution, they put it on".

Now in the traffic i have the 1st (low) scale, till now no overheating problems, the whole system works perfect.

When searching for a similar problem, I dug this thread out.

So I have a Felicia fan shroud and 6 blade fan. 165959455g. Exactly the same as the fan below. It has only two connectors.

https://www.b-parts.com/en/store/products/883935/radiator-fan-skoda-felicia-ii-estate-6u5-13-165959455g-1998-1999-2000-2001/

After some research, I think this model is 60/100W with 3 connectors. With only two connectors, it should be 100W.

With this setup, cooling is barely adequate when the temperature is over 30ºC.

There are already too many threads about overheating/thermostat-thermal switch advise. I didn't want to open another one. You already have experience with stronger fans here.

I have a 80ºC thermostat. 82-68 fan switch. New standard aluminum 480x285mm Fav./Felicia 1.3 radiator. Felicia fan shroud and the fan I described above.

Now the temperatures are above 35ºC I'm tired of constantly looking to temp gauge. After the car reaches it's operating temperature, the fan is almost always on and when climbing at second gear, half throttle, only at 40 Km/h, the temp gauge climbs fast.

These are Golf MK1 fans here with the codes:

165959455T two speed. 120/200W

165959455AM two speed 150/250W

Thermal switch solutions:

Behr TSW 32: 80-85 / 88-93 dual thermal switch. (The most advised 80-85 plus extra high step)

Behr TSW 33: 75-80 / 80-85 dual thermal switch. (The most advised 80-85 plus extra low step)

I'm %90 sure both the fans and the switches are physically compatible with current setup but will I get noticeable increase in cooling performance? If you say yes, which combination should I buy? (I'm keeping the 80ºC thermostat)

Are you sure the cooling system is properly bled?

Honestly the law of deminishing returns comes into play here pulling air with double the power is not going to double the speed moreover I doubt the fan even in second speed can pull faster than 15-20 km/h air velocity so with the car going 40 (around 30kmh rad air speed) you are already exceeding the fan pulling speed therefore you are not really gonna get noticeable returns

In which gear fav cooling system is not efficient at low rpm (below 1500) scenarios

LPG mixer has a coolant connection. Also there is an electric valve for heater. These make the bleeding complicated. Usually it takes some time for the system to let out all the remaining air. I'll see.

That's what I'm afraid of. If I can borrow an high speed fan. I'll try it.

Yes. I'm aware of that. I always try to keep the rpm at green zone.

 Thanks! You dig to get gold or gems right? I've found your emerald custom gauge set too. I really liked that one.

I'm maybe the 5th or 6th user. It's unknown.

Previously there was a 87-92. It's hard to find 80-85 or factory spec 82-87. At least from reliable manufacturers.

Yes. Exactly. This one is a Vernet TS6993.

This is a picture of the switch:

Nowadays over 35ºC.

Summer days are usually between 30-35ºC. Seasonal peaks may reach 40ºC.

Winter days are usually between -5, +10ºC. There are a few extremely cold days in almost every winter. Which will drop to -15ºC.

In Greece we have the ''he who digs, finds" motto.

Thank you!

Positive and encouraging. That's my motto all the time too.

@D.FYLAKTOS believe me or not but your signature has became an inspiration for me. I want to call my car "Trusty" too. That's not just a name. You earn it.
