Well past time that there was one.

That will be just what many trades people, couriers etc  need instead of the pathetic Light Commercial EV's.

I spotted the MG EV as an Estate on the Motability list this quarter and thought that was an error as the e-Niro shows as an estate.

It is going to suit many people, especially those that might need to be able to carry a wheel chair / buggy and have a hoist.

Much cheapness on the Advance Payment.

The hatch is even cheaper at £0.00.

Lately I've been thinking seriously going electric and have been researching the MG ZS EV. Great write ups and on the face of it very good value. But, like most things there's a reason why something is cheap. Came across this video today which makes me sit back and think a bit. Don't know if the estate car will be the same. I'm not saying that wouldn't go for the MG as they're definitely good value on the face of it. Just need to think about it a bit more.

I usually keep my cars for quite a few years, so the corrosion protection (or lack of) would be a major factor for me.  If I was buying new, only keeping it for a year or two and then moving it on, or if I lived in a country where they didn't salt the roads for half the year, I'd probably consider it.  The hard plastics wouldn't bother me in the slightest.

But as things stand, I doubt it'll be on my shortlist.

Not a MG5,  They are moving on lots with the Marvel R

This could be a step up for MG but I think will struggle against the perceived quality of European manufacturers at that price point. Not coming to the UK either, so won't make a difference here.

I think the more significant car for MG is the MG5 long range, with around 250 mile range and 100kW DC charging capability. An electric estate car with over 250 mile range might well have got my vote over the ID.4, I like estate cars.

The perceived quality of EV's from European manufacturers is a very important thing.

Time will tell just how good European Manufacturers actually are or how those manufacturing in Europe do in the 10 years to come compared to the likes of Hyundai / Kia also manufacturing in Europe and then those assembling in Europe like MG are doing in the UK or others like this new one they will be importing to Europe.

Many just want Practicality, Longevity and affordability or replacing parts and even the need to not be replacing parts.

Warranty length will be important to those buying keepers and not just leasing.

I have to say, the MG5 looks mostly like a proper car inside, which actually has me far more interested than most EVs.

The Marvel makes the usual mistake of eliminating most of the controls and just slapping an iPad on the dash.

They might eventually be available in the UK.

By then we should know if they are any good.

Such a good work vehicle that will suit plenty and no reduced speed limits that some have with Light Commercials.

Maybe yet another game changer if they get built and imported into the UK in the numbers to suit demand.

Yes saw this.

Be interesting to compare to the Megane-e that Renault are keen for me to buy from them.

£10k cheaper, similar range, rear wheel drive.

Wonder what the high performance ie sub 4 second to 60, 4 wheel drive version is going to sell for. Got to be £40k plus but that would be an incredible performance car for that sort of money.

That will be a Liz Truss Tribute edition with increased maximum speed.

There needs to be like a VED Band introduced for EV's sold / registered in the UK.

More expensive if they exceed such and such a performance level 0-60 or 70 mph but can not do so efficiently.

The UK can introduce an' Efficiency test where in UK average temperatures an EV loaded to revenue weight @ their Maximum Allowable UK speed they must be able to achieve at least 3.5 miles per kWh.

Chinese EV6-a-like?

If the A-B transport can do the same job & cost half the price to buy plenty will with their own money.

We will see in 10 years time which ones are still desirable as a keeper or as a used car.

They make more sense for Companies / Fleets than a PHEV IMO if the drivers are doing some miles.

I agree but for the driver paying their own fuel it’s basically better to have a hybrid due to the difference in mileage payments.

Totally coordinated honest guv.

The kia forums are full of how it's nasty inside, like an aeroplane seat etc.

Many seem unable to get over the fact that it's about half the price of an EV6, so if you can buy two cars for the price of one it's a hard sell for the 50k one.

Established premium brands are doing well, cheap EV will do well with the mass market buyers.

I think the likes of VW, ford etc are going to have to up their game and drop their prices.

Kia could be in a spot of bother, as the software is "interesting" imho, the car is premium priced and it doesn't have the bandge prestige over other cars that Merc, BMW, Audi or Porsche could count on.

Strange comparing those 2 as really apple and pears.

More like like Oranges and Tangerines.

Are you saying it’s odd to compare mg4 vs Nero or ev6?

How anyone can buy a Chinese car with a clean conscience eludes me...

@cheezemonkhaianyone that would compare a MG4 & an EV6.

Anyone buying any car with a clean conscience eludes me.

Mining of metals and minerals, wasteful use of energy building them and powering them, pollution through their life and then their disposal.

What was wrong with dugout canoes, sailing ships and shanks's pony.

Most battery packs come from there.

Huge number of car parts for ICE come from there.

I think UK Tesla come from China, plenty of VW group cars have parts I’ve seen withmade in China on them.

A huge amount of North & Irish sea natural gas used to produce materials for those batteries around the globe.

Not mentioned much by the UK Government, even in the past month when there is a possibility of shortages this winter.

A huge amount of materials and the energy from coal is from Australia for any manufactures including China, Japan, South Korea & Europe.
