I see using them to try to promote political or ideological stances as misuse, basically.

My initial post didn’t differentiate between EV’s and ICE’s, just the inner feeling of buying something you can buy from elsewhere from a country which is an international pariah but continues to get away with it because the west depends on their goods. An inappropriate part of me would like them to attack Taiwan because it would be a disaster for them but also unfortunately for the rest of humanity.

If this wasn't a political statement and attempt at influencing people due to political reason, I don't know what is!

I have to wonder if I was picked on because I was promoting EV on an EV sub-forum...... 🙄

I see Chinese goods same as fossil fuel that we've been using and dependent for decades, it was okay to buy from oil cartel with but now it's not okay to buy from a different regimen. But it was okay to buy phones with potentially more hidden surveillance inside.

I have lost track of who hates, disagrees, agrees, understands and ignores who. It is all one of perspective.

Both the Chinese and Russian, and probably over a hundred other countries of the world regard Great Britain, and the other empire building Western European powers of the last 2 or 3 hundred years, as some of the worst examples of invaders and exploiters, Napoleon,  Hitler and the general expansionist policies of Western European countries, killing millions of the local inhabitants, plundering those countries resources, the UK Royalty even display the stolen gems from countries it plundered.

The history of the British Empire, particularly the East India Company is one of centuries of shame, especially against China, India but many others.

China is becoming the most important country in the world, India is climbing in economic importance and now exceeds UK GDP.

The 19th century was when the UK time at the top.

20th  century was when the Americans ruled.

The 21st century is the Asian century.

The best thing the UK can do is slow it inevitable decline as much as possible.  We could still enjoy a decade or two of quite good standard of living.  The UK economy has already starting to perform like an Emerging economy rather than a strong and stable one.  Empires rise and fall, propaganda is no ones exclusive tool.

How about "rioters" in London/Tottenham riots "steal" a bottle of water and get 18 months prison.

Protesting Catholics in Derry and Dublin get mass murdered by British Army  (twice).

Well hasn’t this descended into something special.

If people want to debate the moral approach of some countries (and sone are very debatable) then I’d suggest a thread in the roadside or off topic.

on topic, it’s a cheap EV. Many premium goods in the world are cheaply made elsewhere, have a logo put on and then are considered “expensive “ goods. This includes many cars and car parts, for example Volvo is now owned by a Chinese company.

Most people will need an affordable EV, be that BEV or FCEV. Global and localised emissions reduction is required and that’s without getting into the geopolitics of oil. Currently one country owns most manufacturing and most of the resources for battery production.

Neighbour just has an MG4 for a few days as a company hack vehicle to review but really did not like the software operation on the interface.  Disliked it so much he was give a Volvo (Geely) XC40 which would expect to be much nicer of course.  Not sure he has factored in the price difference which, even with salary sacrifice, will be large I would have thought.

Lots going on with the various automotive companies in the sector and other players coming along with lots of money to buy auto makers on the cheap as they struggle to adapt to the electric future and some betting on some alternative fuels playing a part.  Who is up for a Methanol or Hydrogen car ?  They could explode on to the scene maybe ?

No rear wiper and no rear camera.   Mental if you are sitting in traffic because it is snowing heavily.

A heated rear screen can not be enough.

Honda tried that with the Civic Mk 8 many years ago...   and even reckoned they'd shaped the rear end so that rain etc. would get blown off by the aerodynamics whilst driving (as MG claim to have done with the 4).

They soon learnt and the Mk 9 replacement had a rear wiper...

Still a glaring omission on many more upmarket cars too, such as the I-Pace or Ioniq 5. Seems to be needless penny pinching as I certainly would not buy a car without.

No rear wipe on the Renault Arkana which is this "Sport Coupe" shape, is a pain but electric rear heater seems to clear it fast, not tried in snow and may never be I suppose.

Lack of rear wiper hasn’t been a problem so far on EV6 but it has a reversing camera.

@cheezemonkhaiI went look at them again after dismissing a Megane e-Tech. (Pop out handles, crap in proper winter conditions.)

 Same Dealership.

Just because available at Low Advance Payments on Motbility and bigger battery ones.

Too many issues for me with screen, i am not left handed, the no rear wiper, and they need to sort snagging faults.

The dealership is only 11 miles away but after the crap with my Corsa Electric i am not faffing about with faults / recalls  etc.

Tried and tested is the way i am going.   Some issues can be expected but really that means me going to 2nd or 3rd generation EV's only.

Sometime in the future then.

*I do not want any shiny black plastic inside, anyplace i touch or have to wipe of stoor from.*

Nor any outside where i have to wash of road grime / salt / sand etc from.

Pity.

I want to be able to be in Sport when not in towns.  drive at NSL's and 70 mph where applicable, AC / heating or cooling / no misting available regardless of the weather and able to carry people and stuff in the car comfortably

and not have to consider charging in 200 miles if a car has a 60 kWh usable battery.

so 3.3 or better miles per kWh

Stuff the ECO stuff and ECO tyres and setting off fingers crossed the weather is perfect for an EV.

Charging properly every time is nice or actually rather important. UK winters are not that cold.

Heating / de-misting with a car full of people or even just a driver being very important.

What have I failed to understand?

sorry but lost.

@cheezemonkhai

I doubt you failed to understand anything.

& rear wipers to clear heavy snow will not be an issue if there is no heavy snow.

?

Does an EV6 rear camera stay clean in messy salted / gritted roads if you maybe drive for an hour or 3 then have to reverse into a parking place / charger etc?

AC /Demisting needing to be used in weather conditions when driving in the type of weather driving or sitting charging with people or animals in the car is not an issue for many if not trucking about in those circumstances.

For those that are it is good to be able to keep the interior dry while sitting in the car in rainy or snowy conditions while charging.

Wind deflectors pretty necessary to crack the windows open. It is a pity that is not a option with EV's.

3- 3.4 miles per kWh type efficiency in empty cars other than a driver in ambient temps in the teens even if it is raining is pathetic.

Because the season is winter it is hardly Winter weather just because raining and 12*oC that can be around the UK any season of the year weather daytime or night time.

3up getting 3.6-4.9 (4.5 is more common top end) on 60-120 mile runs.

Lower end is motorway upper is smaller roads using higher regen to slow..

Cold was more like 3.2-4

Rear camera doesn’t self clean as far as I can tell, but at same time I have had salt laden drives and not found it an issue.

Cant comment on snow as not had any,

Only time so far I missed the rear wiper was when I first got the car from an estate and was used to needing one. The i5 and ev6 are very different shapes mind. I wouldn’t say no to one of it was an option but I’m not currently upset it’s not there either.

AC/heating, I leave it on auto and let the car do its thing. Have a heat pump, but the only button that gets used on climate tends to be “driver only” when it is.

Real world 250-280 miles on a charge, longest round trip so far without stopping has been 230, but I’m getting used to letting I go below 25% still.

MG4 Extreme

So good it mashes the Audi e-tron /Porsche Tycan.

Audi did not want to lend What Car a car as they knew this half priced car was going to mash their car over the 0 to 60 and quarter mile.  OMG.

That's odd, they are both SE spec from lack of rear spoiler. (as opposed to trophy spec)

The previous post video with Xpower at 0:32 also has rear wiper. May be it's standard going forward.

(Wiper can also be seen at 10:30 in the video further above)
