Never see 18s and front parking sensors

Featured Replies

When I was looking for a vRS (petrol) I must have looked online at hundreds. But not once did I see one on 18s and with front parking sensors.

How come? Some weird option pack from Skoda?

Pretty sure the 'normal' vRS only gets rear parking sensors as standard so front sensors would have been an option at time of purchase.

However, the '245 edition' and '245 challenge' got front parking sensors and 19" extremes as standard amongst other things which is why they tend to come together :)

I have 18s and front parking sensors.

When I ordered the car last year the VRS challenge was better value but couldn't be ordered with 18s so I had to go down the regular 245 route and add the options I thought I needed.

While  the 19s may look better, the 18s give a better ride and the tyres cost much less.

That'll be a rare care in the future!

I've seen loads of 'normal' vRS with 19s and front parking sensors too. Mine for example is a 17 plate 230 (I think) and has 19s and FPS. Plus black pack plus and winter pack apparently but that's a different story.

And I have seen zero vRS's with 18s and FPS.

Doubt it'll be reflected in it's value !! :biggrin::biggrin:

The brochure I have suggests it was a £355 option for front sensors so that probably put a good number of people off :/

You can always get one on 19's and replacement them with 18's? Might give you a few more options and sell the 19's to recover the costs :)

Certainly easier to switch wheel than retrofit front parking sensors!

Indeed, that's what I'm doing. Have bought a set of Geminis and need to get them refurbished now.

So if anyone wants a set of refurbished Xtrems with 4 good Pirellis then please let me know 😂

Front sensors were a separate option or tied in with the Park Assist. I have 18" Geminis and Park assist and therefore the front sensors. Well specced VRS were always hard to find, especially earlier ones. When I bought mine things like Nav and Cruise Control weren't even standard! Had to do a 9 hour round trip to secure mine.

That's it, I test drove 2 cars; one a poverty spec tdi vrs and the other a full loaded tfsi. Decided there and then I wanted to have front sensors just as a peace of mind. Then seens as the park assist wasn't too much more, I opted for that as well.

I think the MY16 cars started to get a bit more as standard IIRC. Admundsen and CC were basics at the time I was looking at the end of 2015.

I specced my new 2015 VRS petrol with 18s, front parking sensors, front Assist along with Canton, the for me best options ( in winter at least) of heated front screen and auto-dimming door mirrors. Having experienced it ,  I realise now that I should also have got ACC. Although when traded in the decent options didn't seem to make any difference in the price.  Frankly I barely ever used the FPS and wouldn't ever pay for them as an option. Mind you my father, a HGV1 driver, hauling huge trailers around the narrow roads in Devon and Cornwall, howled with laughter when I paid to have rear parking sensors fitted to a Mondeo in 2004.

I have a FL230 which has 18's and front parking sensors,  it also has a sunroof but very little in terms of other options other than being a DSG.  It's a used one I picked up that had very low mileage and in pristine condition. I was also trying to avoid the 19's but after much searching and so few coming up other than for silly prices I almost gave up on "holding out" for my ideal spec.

I would have liked heated seats and the canton sound system and would have happily sacrificed FPS for either of those..... but cars with the canton system are gold dust and so far while it's not blowing my socks off... the standard stereo is not as bad as I'd seen implied here.

I have to agree with you regarding the sound system. I picked mine up yesterday and have been relieved by the sound quality if not blown away. The way some folk go on you'd think it was terrible.

Agree it's not too bad to my ears but the bass does dissappear as you get moving.

I'm thinking of adding an underseat sub to help out.

The reason I specced my MkIII VRS with Canton, was that my MkII VRS system sounded so weedy. My wife’s Daihatsu Sirion’s audio system sounded much better. Octavia Canton is not bad for the money. I paid £400 in 2015,  it’s more now.  Canton also gets criticised but to my ear it sounds best when used with Spotify, iTunes.

On the used 2020 Superb I collect this Saturday it is now a £645 option. Thankfully both that and the virtual dash were selected as useful options to have on this SEL.
