Hello all!

I recently removed my instrument cluster to remove a load of dust behind the plastic screen.

I put it all back all connectors done correctly, but now the airbag light is on.

It goes out briefly, but then turns on at the same time as the fuel light (I have low fuel, not an issue with the cluster)

I have checked all the connectors under the seats and made sure the switch in the passenger door works (by turning it and seeing if the light illuminated on the dash by hazard lights) and they all seem fine.

It has only happened since I messed with the cluster, but does anyone have any ideas as to what could be the issue? I have a Carista somewhere but I need to find it before I can check the ECU for faults.

I have attached a picture of the airbag light in the cluster, and the one by the hazard lights, so you know what I’m talking about.

Any help to get this sorted is much appreciated. Thanks!

I think if you remove the cluster and fit a replacement, you may  need to have it coded.

You might need to have a code reader tool (Scanner). To then remove the code for the fault, if the fault was only you removing the connection. You might find someone local with VCDS tools or use something like an OBD11 plug-in device, with a download/app.

Before this, though, try disconnecting the battery for about ten mins or so, then reconnect and see if that helped. You will need to re set the windows/clock, etc but the stereo should recode itself.
