Octavia Variable Boot Floor retrofit?

Featured Replies

Hello! I bought my 2015 Octavia Edition 2 weeks ago, which doesn't have VBF and I'd like to get one for it as I find it very useful and I could get it for less than 60EUR.

Now, my question is can I fit it from Golf 7 Variant or Passat B7 if I don't find the original one?

Thanks.

Hi, welcome to the forum - pretty certain the Golf 7 variant is identical.

That would be awesome. 🙄

Just be aware that there is a weight limit on the floor in the raised position - I think <> 80 KG, However I've never had a problem with mine, which I keep permanently raised (roof bars, shovel, ropes etc. stored underneath. If a concern, I have seen other members recommend placing blocks of wood underneath as additional support.

Thank you very much. I'll probably use it same as you do. And on the top nothing more than a grocery bags. I like the clean look of it. 😁

Highly recommend on the estate, a rear sill guard to compliment the variable boot floor and then you can load things in and out without worry of damage,  and forensics can get foot prints off it too...lol.

And the Superskoda boot lights, they are fantastic to illuminate that huge boot.

Great, will check that too. Superskoda is too expensive imo, I'll probably move to AliExpress for boot lights. 😁

@SashaGrace has retrofitted the VBF, she'll know what the score is for sure!

Someone in the superb III section made their own. Tis what I plan to do if my next car is missing it. Such a useful space.

My bumper guard is from

It has a nice lip rolled down over the bumper that alot don't have. It's been on 18 months and looks fine.

I have modified MK1 VBF's plentifull & cheap in the breakers for a MK2 and a Yeti, they all had exactly the same width & just needed the rear curve reprofiling if you are obsessive compulsive and the side rails raising, the Yeti uses 2 of the 3 sections.

A very easy DIY job that is easier, cheaper and looks 100% OE compared to making one.

The OE variofloor can be massively overloaded as its made from 19mm proper plywood and spans less than 1m.

Golf one isn’t the same as far as I know but you will need floor, side rails, bar across the back and all the fixings to do it and cut the side panels.

Thanks everyone. I'll probably need to cut sides of my original floor to fit the side railings as they seem to take at least 1.5cm from sides and that would probably block my original floor to lift it up. I guess I'll leave this project for some warmer weather...
