Replacement/Aftermarket shifter for DSG Gearstick

Featured Replies

My gearshifteer is starting to fray and i was hoping someone would point me to a replacement  or aftermarket shifters that can be used without any modifications

most modern vag cars with the front button release will work tbh. Ive got a RS3 one on my vrs. I'm assuming you have the button on the front?

Hi John_20v,

Yes, thats theshifter i have. I want to get onethat is a perfect fi an where i do not have to make any modifications to. Do you know a site where I can browse and select a new one?. Thanks for replying

Have a look on superskoda’s site or eBay. Lots of dealers sell new stock on eBay. I think as long as it has the button on front. It should fit. Make sure the gear gator matches up.

Did the plastic surround fit without modification?

Sorry forgot to post.

How does the button work?

It’s the same function as before.

that red pin/stick holds it in place. You remove it. Slot the gear knob on, then press the button , which engages it.

If you press the button before all that, it messes up and you have to reset it, which is a right pain in the ass.

Odd question, but in keeping with the topic - it's it possible to replace just the button? Noticed the chrome is lifting at the top edge on mine, and since there's no other wear it seems a waste to replace the whole thing if replacing just the button is a possibility.

Don’t think so. You’d need to essentially brake the knob part to get it out.

Think I'll just live with it so, though the RS3 one above is tempting! 😁

Do you have any partnumber for it?

Not a sure off the top of my head. There’s loads of them on eBay. Paid around 130 quid for mine. It’s also the alcantara  version.

@john_20v is your RS3 knob a genuine one or replica?

I’ve seen RHD and LHD options for knobs. Can someone enlighten me what the difference is?

It's probably the shape of the knob to allow for comfy grip between LHD and RHD.

It’s 100% genuine. The one I’ve got is not lhd or rhd as far as I know. It’s not shaped. Genuine rs ones ain’t cheap btw.
