didnt think fabia was big untill

Featured Replies

today at work we all line our cars up against a nice new straight fence the fabia is longer than a 206 which surprised me

Ya.. the Fabia is not small.. its bigger than the 206.. alot bigger than the new Suzuki Swift and for Fiesta.. But what i feel is really big is the new Fiat Punto!!

Hence the reason for it being called Grande Punto :)

The vRS version has the extended front & rear bumper to meet some WRC regulation(s) IIRC - dunno if it would have made the difference compared against a 206, not had one side by side personally :)

i used to have a 206 and the fabia is a nightmare to park. i see a space nd think "im in" need parking sensors on the mofo cos my mind is still looking for ickle 206 spaces :thumbdwn: 206 good bit smaller

Correct. WRC cars are 4000mm (4m) homologation regulations.

Didnt Peugeot brong out a 206 with extended bumpers for a while in order to meet homologation rules? I havent seen one for ages tho so i reckon they must have made the minimum number possible in a limited edition type of deal.

I think I'm right in saying that the Fabia and a lot of 'superminis' are bigger than a Mk1 Golf. Seems that all cars have moved up a class catagory since the 'old days'.

the 206GTI has extended bumpers and i think the GTI180 had even bigger bumpers. that must be the one you`re thinking of..:)

Yup.. thats true... The Fabia is Almost as big as the MK II Golf

Yes that was the Grand Tourisme, ugly if your ask me...

You should drive a Superb for a few days, then parking your Furby would not be such a prob

You probably can't park if you have problems parkin' the Fabia. It's a very easy car to park.

The 206 is not that much smaller. My X-girlfriend has the full option model with the ugly sunroof, and always parked next to hers, the Fabia actually looks smaller. Bear in mind the ride height plays with your perception as to how big the car actually is. The 206 INSIDE is too cramped up, especially for the big boys like most of us Fabia drivers in here.

no wrong i'm afraid

the limited edition 206 your all thinking of is the 206 GT

only made in silver to the power of about 500 if i remember:)

I found it hard to park the Fabia to be honest. Had a pug 306 estate before that, and had no problems. I can parallel park a 44 tonne truck ffs, but not a Fabia  .

Not finding the new Octy too bad. Even though I can't see anything out the rear window :(

cheeky *******, bumpers are further out at the back and the nose is much longer, dont help the fact the furby is 5 door and my 206 wasnt  you know what they say, practice makes perfect

I never had a problem Parking the Fabia.. i think its very easy to park even though its a bit bigger than other hatchbacks..

i dont think the steering lock is very good but its not awful like a v6 clio just not as good as other cars like my A4

The Fabia Vrs Is a site easier to park than a 16v diesel Citroen C3 with climate control. The lock on the Citroen is UTTER rubbish, due to the a/c radiator and bits restricting the lock available.

I can do a u-turn even in my Octavia Estate where the Citroen just couldn't!

Damn right - used to see a few up round us, they had daft 'Halfords' stick on arch extensions as well which made the standard wheels look ridiculous. Ford had the best homologation fix, use the bumpers off the US spec version of the car (Focus) as a) they're bigger and B) we don't have to see them over here!!!!

Wrong, there's a metallic red one near where i work. Also iirc for homoligation you need to make 2500 units within a 12 month period. ;)

Looking up the measurements in the Skoda brochure i have here the standard hatchback Fabia is 3970mm in length and the vRS 4002mm... not massive difference.

I certinally don't find it any harder to park than my Saxo VTR... in fact i find it abit easier as the power steering is soo much better. :)

Previous car a micra, turning circle 9m - one of the smallest. Fabia - 10m not much worse, but the visibility is. Miss being able to see the bonnet, but power steering is better. Tardy throttle response makes low speed manouvering harder than it need be, but used to it now. Worth the small disadvantages for the interior space - I'm over 6' and can stretch out nicely as driver or passenger.
