Pirelli reckon Hamiltons tyres were toast and wouldnt have lasted to the end. They should have stopped much earlier.

Just watched the feature race. The team whose driver is always hyper aggressive on lap 1 are seemingly very upset that it didn't go all his way this time. Maybe he shouldn't run the opposition off or

I read Max had a catalogue of excuses as to why he didnt beat Bottas, the steering wheel wasnt straight. The gear indicator wasnt in the right mode. The tyres wore out.

Yawn. How about, "I was too slow today"

I'd believe and respect that one.

Likewise.

Is Max a distant relative of Nigel Mansell?

What a race. The winner was undoubtedly superb and produced a masterclass

Spoiler

You could say that Hamilton, effectively, went from 25th on a rather long grand prix, to win it. I suppose his doubters will still say it was all about the car :dull:

I've just come across an article that claims Toto said the rear wing was 0.2 mm out of spec. Ouch!

Was that 0.2mm out of spec before or after Verstappen touched it in park ferme?

"In other news..." Audi has bought McLaren!

I hope they don't want to rebrand the F1 team. Although the thoughts of a Škoda F1 team is interesting, as is a 4.0 litre V8 Fabia - It would still be slower than a mk1 2.0 petrol Furby of course.

And if BossFox was still about here he'd have probably built it! :D

What happened to Boss Fox? Did he sell his mad Yeti?

No idea, he was away before I joined but I find myself going through his mad project threads. AFAIK, the Yeti needed a new engine, no?

Question is, who would be co-driver for the team?

Obviously Mil would be overtake like a king in the 2.0 fabia :)

Good question, you'd need someone equally as insane.

Of course, took 'em like a king... :D

It's all kicking off at McLaren it seems. Autocar, one of the world's most respected magazines claimed Audi had bought McLaren, but now McLaren are strenuously refuting this claim. Autocar are usually pretty much spot on with these things, so it will be interesting to see what comes of the claim. I know BMW were also looking at buying McLaren.

Pretty good comeback from 25 dropped grid places.

Red Bull urgently need to find some straight-line speed for Qatar and Abu Dhabi.

Mercedes should have kept Bottas and asked Hamilton to move on.

I genuinely hope not, because if they win this year, all the little tantrums, some alledgedly unsportsman like behaviour and a whole pile of excuses could be justified.
I just think the behaviour is unbecoming a winning team (Any team).

Payback time.

Months after RBs retrospective protest at the Silverstone incident steward's decision, Mercedes have done the same over the Brazil turn 4 incident, aiming to get a penalty for Verstappen.

Unlikely they'll get anything but we shall see.

The stewards IMHO seem to have a 'blind spot' regarding Verstappen but have 20:20 vision regarding Hamilton.

I'm increasing seeing Verstappen in the same vein as Michael Schumacher - a brilliant driver who feels the need to cheat - which saddens me as anyone that doesn't win the title World Champion in a fair fight isn't worthy of that title IMHO.

IMO Verstappen’s ‘hard man’ stance is tolerated by FIA, which wants to see another team break the Mercedes stranglehold. Silverstone, Monza and now San Paulo turn 4 where he knew he could run very wide, are examples of refusing  to yield when to continue will result in a crash. Weaving and until banned, sudden dangerous changes of direction are all dished out with disregard for the rules or safety. ‘Say hi to the stewards! ‘ No class at all.

Indeed. With his points lead, Verstappen can win the title by running Hamilton off the road at the next 3 events, neither of them need finish any more races this year from RBRs point of view.

Great at Losail circuit Qatar like we who know it from motogp and so pleased that Alonso got drive of the day and Ocon both in the top 5 for the Oxfordshire team.

Three drivers being spoken to by the stewards for not taking notice of waved yellow flags at the end of Q3.

Verstappen passed 2 waved yellow flags which would in normal circumstances mean his lap time would be taken away - but I'm not expecting that to happen in this instance...

Yes I thought they would do that, a meaningless penalty, but the 5 grid place drop was in accord with previous punishments.

The race was a walk in the park for Lewis in clean air...and afterwards Mercedes revealed it had the older engine fitted, not the newer, more powerful, one seen in Brazil.
