Columbus/update queries

Featured Replies

Took delivery of my Superb a few weeks ago and have a few queries regarding the Columbus system. Apologies if this is covered elsewhere, I've tried searching but couldn't resolve my issues.

Updates - My system information shows the nav version being 20.11 as per the attached pic (which isn't for example ECE 2019/20?). If I enter the VIN in the update portal I can download ECE 2020/2021 which is a zip file called OI_P41_EU_202025_Offline_Update. I have tried putting this on a USB and putting it in the car but when I click Update Software I just get a blank screen. I don't see an option to update from the USB stick. Any ideas? If I connect the system to a wifi hotspot on my phone I also cannot see any updates.

Accessing internet services - If I want to access internet radio for example, is the only way to do it to disconnect CarPlay and connect to a hotspot? If I am connected via CarPlay does the nav system have access to live traffic etc?

thanks in advance.

Thanks.

So internet radio largely useless unless you're prepared to connect to hotspot each time?

If I put that map download on a USB and then go to Update Software, will it give me the option to load from USB if it detects the map? Currently I just get a blank screen when I press Update Software.

I have a superb IV since July 20, do you think there is already an update available for my columbus?

Should be the latest MIB3.

Make sure you open the ZIP file and move the 2 folders and 1 file to the SD card.

Dont put the whole ZIP file on the SD card.

SD card should look similar to this:
f191b0a21c45a4548033bd38e2ede9ba.jpg

(the md5 hash file has no value for the upgrade and doesnt need to be on there)

There should be 2 folders starting with MIB2..... and a file.

Also there are known issues with doing on a Mac and some odd hidden files staying behind.

Although the progress may not be properly visible. You should at least see there is an update on the SD card.

(What the system doesnt do is check whether the update on the SD card is newer than whats installed. Even after completing the update, it still tells me there is an update on SD card. Taking the SD card out resolves that problem.)

Most important to unzip and then load three files onto the USB stick. I was struggling for ages having uploaded the unzipped files as one!

As I mentioned  2 folders and 1 file. Not 3 files.

But indeed not the zip file itself

Hello everyone,

Can you confirm that it's useless on my MIB 3?

The MIB3 system has its own updates. Best to go to the Skoda website and type in your VIN code of the car to see if an update is available.
