i got a hunter 4 wheel yesterday too. Quite a way out. But I did tie rods too

I was thinking I should do this, but thought I might hang on and do the rear suspension first, and/or change the track rod ends so it is all new and shiny - except for the many bushes on the rear suspension assembly!

Where does it stop?!

I'd just plan for new ball joints and drop links, they will almost definitely cause you issues.

I upgraded my top mounts and bearings to ttrs ones and fitted new bump stops and dust covers too.

Yeah got all that and the new bolts come today too, shame I can't get the springs too otherwise I would build them up as i', off work at the moment.

Got the rear to do too, that will be fun I suppose?

I did not do any bushes, all seemed ok. I have stopped now. No money left and soon the new bits worth more than the car ;)

My last MOT the tester said it will need new bushes soon, no advisory though. Might leave it till next year, might drop the whole lot it's only 8 bolts, not sure what the brake pipes are held on the body or the sub frame?

Well Just done the 2 front dampers, and boy they needed changing, the one on the right side totally shot, push in, and it stays there, the other side push in and well it comes out a bit then stops.

Had to grind the ARB drop link off, good job I got new one's to go on.

Feels a lot better over the speed humps we have here, no noise at all, so another Job ticked off the list.

2 years on and I've been having horrible knocking and graunching sounds for a while. Finally changes the drop links in November or early December last year. No difference and wasn't that convinced it was the fault, but they're cheap enough. MoT couldn't find a problem, but did give it a good rattle around on the shaker plates, where you could feel a knock in the drop link and the strut. It did rule out the arb bushes which I had my suspicions about and still haven't polybushed, even though they are sat in the garage still.

Decided the top mounts were the most likely fault but have been waiting for it to warm up and stay dry long enough. So, finally pulled the strut, replaced the top mount (another Febi) and refitted - all without the d1cking about and hassles last time round. I did discover a torn CV boot so had to visit the local factors for a new one of those, and picked up a CV joint in case that didn't play ball coming off, but all was good.

If you've got a knock that sounds like drop links, as well as a knock on lock that sounds like a CV joint, with a grating noise while turning, it might just be a top mount.

Funnily enough, the one removed from the car feels smooth in the hand.
