Lying repair garage and insurer

Featured Replies

This is my beloved Yeti. A stolen Range Rover smashed into while it was parked outside my house. It went in for repair and I'm assuming they removed the passanger seat to carry out repairs because when I got it back the storage draw/tray was missing. Problem is the insurance company and the garage are denying that a yeti comes with a storage draw under the passanger seat (they said they contacted Skoda).

Well I saw the bloody thing my own eyes. I emptied my stuff out of it the morning the car was taken for repairs. It's in the yeti handbook for heaven sake. But they seem to think I'm some kind of story teller. I intend to take this further. I can show that the storage door is shown n the handbook.

Why I'm posting this here is I wonder if any other Yeti owners can confirm they have a storage draw under the passanger seat. My model is a Outdoor SE TDI SCR 65Reg

Thanks in advance :)

Yes there's a drawer under the passenger seat in my 2016 SE L Drive.

It might be an option listed on the build data sticker on the boot floor. Can you post a photo of that sticker? The code may well start QN followed by a number.

Handbooks tend to describe every option that might be fitted, usually with a * for non-standard items.

I doubt an insurance company will take any notice of what we have to say.

I'd be tempted to go to Skoda and get a full PR list for your vehicle, then use that to confirm if you have the right PR codes for the storage draw.

If you're lucky, @James@RRG_Skoda_Rochdale might be able to help :)

If it has been removed the either there will be a big gap where it once was or the trim has been replaced with a lower level one.

Now I am questioning whether I am talking bull***t, the above would be correct on an Octavia but my Yeti does not have a storage bin nor does it have a trim under the front, just a big gap where I have fitted a household plastic storage box clipped to the seat frame.

What I was going to suggest if there is a new trim in place is that it will have a manufacturers sticker with the manufacturing date which is unlikely to match any of the other parts in your vehicle.

Unless the car was severely damaged its unlikely that the seat would have been removed for the repairs but if someone has been helping themselves to your parts to upgrade their car then I would look carefully everywhere else including under the boot carpet at the toolkit, locking wheelnut key, jack, tyre inflator compressor etc etc.

Was your vehicle recovered directly to the repairer or did it spend any time at a salvage yard awaiting insurance clearance?

If the latter then thats where stuff usually goes walkies especially service history books etc (for cloning) not that VAG use them any more

Here is the facelift brochure 2014

Pages 20 & 26 say the draw was standard on models above SE.

So unless it was an optional extra only Elegance, SE L and L&K models have them.

The car is not with me at the moment. It's back at the garage as there was other problems with the repair that they are rectifying. I will have a look as soon as it is back.

Thank you.

That's one of the first things I did, my mind particularly went straight to the locking nut.

The repair garage collected it and it went straight to there.

That's great thank you

My 2015 Elegance has a drawer only on passenger side.

This post shows how to retro fit a drawer. It shows the drawer 'carrier' as part of the kit. If your seat has the carrier, it should have the drawer!

@urrell THANK YOU 🙏🏽

My 2013 Elegance had a drawer under the passenger seat but ( as above ) my 2017 SE L Drive has the umbrella instead.  Please let us know what the outcome is, for such a small cost the repairer ought to just supply and fit the drawer to satisfy his customer.

I will.

If they had just said we can't deny or confirm the draw was there I could have accept let it go. But to imply I'm lying and just made up a random story about a draw and tell me the car does not come with one has really annoyed me. I have enough evidence that it does I'm taking it all the way.

I really appreciate the help I have got on here.

I've got a 2015 Outdoor 4x4 SE and there is just a hole.  Mine was secondhand, but unless the dealership stole it from it before selling it on, I think if you had one it was an optional extra.  If you have the handbook pack it may give the list of codes on there.  I think the codes you should be looking for are QN1 - Drawer under front left seat.  QN2 - Drawer under front right seat. QN3 - Drawers under front seats (presumably both seats?) QN0 I think means there are no drawers under front seats.

If you are really curious about what all those little codes mean you can plug them into the tool on this site http://vag-codes.info/vag-option-codes
