Android 11 & Android Auto Wireless

Featured Replies

Hi. I have the Skoda Superb mkIII (65 plate) and happily been using cabled Android Auto.

My OnePlus 7pro has just got a shiny Android 11 and I know it comes with Android Auto Wireless. However, is my head unit out of the question for this?  I have the Canton with surround speakers and TV (not sure of model number).

Or can it be made compatible with a software update?

Thanks.

Sorry, your headunit won't support wireless Android Auto, nor am I aware of a software update to add it. Only the very latest MIB3 units support it :)

There are some adapters planned such as AAWireless that should work for you but I've not tried it https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/aawireless#/

Yes, my 2020 superb does have android auto wireless, but as has been said you need the latest version of IFE

Mine has wireless Apple Carplay. Will wireless AA work too?

It seems to need the 5Ghz band so I guess that rules out any software update.  No idea why it needs 5Ghz though.

I saw the indiegogo page at Christmas, then forgot about it; this post reminded me, so my name is now on the list - ta!

I've got an MIB2 unit, so no chance of it having wireless capability.

Hence I too have signed up for an AAWireless unit.  I'm looking forward to it as it will pair nicely with my wireless phone charging.

A race through customs it is then!

Im not sure what if any duties will apply, time will tell...

I was pondering wireless charging too,and was looking for something to nicely sit in the recess by the

12v socket.

Any hints or recommendations would be gratefully received

According to the AAwireless team there will be no duty to pay.  They Have been putting a lot of work in to sort the best distribution routes.  Time will tell.

The Superb already comes with a Qi Wireless Charger in the phonebox.

Actually, no it doesn’t. Wireless Charging is now an optional extra at £270

I wonder if it varies by region, in any case mine also hasn't got one. A hunt around on ebay looks to be in order.

No way 2020 Superb has Wireless Android Auto, it's MIB2.5 head unit.

Wireless out of box is available only on MIB3 (like the new Golf and Octavia).

We don't tend to use model years in the UK to describe vehicle ages.

In this case, I expect they have a 70 plate which is likely a MY21 with an MIB3 headunit.

Sorry to dredge up this topic, but I just wanted to say that I got my AAwireless unit this week, and all is working well (with an MIB2 Columbus). There wasn't any customs duties or VAT to pay - the value was declared as £21. I got a shipping notification and It arrived 2 days later via Royal Mail tracked 48, even though the tracking never updated...

Glad to hear that @Teir

I'm waiting in line, patiently, for mine to b allocated a device and shipped out.

Hey guys, can I have some advice on how to tell if my headunit is MIB2.5 or 3. It's in the Superb IV 2020. Is there a pert number/model that I can check?

Snap. If anyone else it thinking of getting one I can now add my voice to tier's - it was easy to set up and works well (with my S10) at least.

+1, I received mine today.

Was very easy to setup and it's working very well.

I've got an MY17 with an MIB2 unit, paired with a Google Pixel 5.

Well worth the wait.

I've had mine for 2 or 3 weeks. Aside from the fact it doesn't turn off and my phone keeps trying to connect when I'm in the house it's great. I think there is a fix in the app but I have found it hard to get the settings to save thus far. An app update the other day may have helped. Not had a chance to check yet.

I wonder why vw and skoda are different - my usb turns off.

As you say, there is a setting that should help (if it saves)
