Android 11 & Android Auto Wireless

Featured Replies

I've been running Android 12 on my Pixel 5 for a few months now - Android Auto is still behaving fine.

I am using an AAWireless dongle though, nonetheless, that shouldn't make a difference.

  • Sorry to dredge up this topic, but I just wanted to say that I got my AAwireless unit this week, and all is working well (with an MIB2 Columbus). There wasn't any customs duties or VAT to pay - the va

  • I also have a an AAWireless on 'order'.  latest update looks like they are shipping the first batch in Feb so should start to land on doorsteps towards the end of the month.

I’ll run you through the OEM fit next weekend when you come for the camera  I still need to get one for mine as I sold the charge pad with the Octy.

I'm on pixel 5 but the latest beta (12L?) And AAwireless has stopped working. I think I need to wipe all traces from my phone and reset the dongle to get it back. Wired AA is working most of the time. Fails to fire up now and then and also has a few hiccups with freezes or no GPS/data. Usually when I need it most too. Hoping the May update will help stabilise it and I'll then put the effort into getting the dongle working again.

Guys, on my suburb iv, previously aawireless worked good, but had a problem with navigation, so dealer swapped out something, now nav works, but aawireless not working.

Could they have put a mib2.5 instead of mib3.0? How can i tell? What is the latest software, mine says 0156.

Any clues?

I imagine mib2.5 software wouldn't even load onto an mib3 unit.

Hang on, can you first clarify whether you are using an actual AAwireless device (that you plug into the usb port), or are you talking about an MIB3 unit with native android auto wireless?

My software was running version 0156 and a dealer update took it to 0278. Unfortunately I can't tell you if wireless AA worked on 0156 as I have only just got a compatible phone but I can confirm it works on 0278. I have an iV too so will be the same as yours. There is definitely an update available for yours

Thanks for replying, to clarify, i am referring to native Android Auto wireless on the headunit,  (not the separate device)

Previously worked flawlessly, but since unit replacement by dealer, not working. (but it fixed nav issue)

teachsearchuk seems to have hit the nail, seems that the sw on the "new" unit is "old", and needs updating. I did not note the sw version when it was working.  Can i do this myself, or is it back to the dealer?

MIB 2.5 and MIB3 units r vastly different hardware & software wise.

An MIB2.5 will not work a mk3.5 (facelift) Superb, or on anything that came with an MIB3 unit originally.

I haven't heard of anyone retrofitting an MIB3 unit into a previous gen car, but it would involve changing a whole bunch of other control modules, including the gateway.

With regards to ur wireless Android Auto not working - the initial MIB3 units did not have wireless AA - they only did wireless CarPlay, and wired AA. It was only later that they added the hardware for it, with the newer units.

So if they swapped ur MIB3 unit with one of those older versions, then it would explain why u don't have wireless AA anymore.

Does Android Auto still work when u connect via the cable?

Yes AA works with a cable.

You say that older units did not have the hardware to run AA. (rather than being a software issue).

So the physical unit is now not combatable.

This is concerning as a sw update may not restore the AA functionality,

here is a photo of the new unit details, maybe the numbers make sense to someone.....

If they updated something and it's broken, take it back.

On my Passat they coded in wired AA but disabled all Bluetooth. Someone has configured it wrong :)

Sorry, unfortunately I don't know which hardware revisions didn't have wireless AA, and which revisions onwards started having it.

Correct, the SW version alone may not fix it for u.

It's the HW version that u need to look for.

As @Patent said - take it back to them saying wireless AA no longer works for u.

Ask them for the part number of the unit they removed, including it's HW and SW version - so u can compare.
