Anyone found anything in the Shop?

Featured Replies

I'm wondering if anyone has figured out what Shop is all about? I'll take a wild guess and say we're going to be encouraged to buy stuff there, but what?

Also, has anyone found this screen (take from the Skoda website)? they seem to be related.

in Slovenia i just have an option to buy additional ambient light colors for 50€ and to buy data plan from Cubic network. Otherwise there is an option to resuscribe to Care Connect and Infotainment Online which obviously i dont need to do yet.

I would gues there will be some other things to buy down the road :D

I agree - 50 euros for some new colours is just crazy.

Same in the UK. £44 for additional colours. No idea what it adds, how many more can you need?

I can't see this so presumably the shop is tailored for your specific car (I don't have ambient lighting).

Can anyone post a screenshot? Maybe we need to crowdsource 50 euros for someone to choose the upgrade so we can see what crazy new colours Skoda has devised!

Shame it doesn’t have an option to extend the ambient lighting to the rear doors. 😬

That would be good

I'll volunteer to try it if you all pay me 😂

Maybe you get a rainbow color.

When I first got mine, the shop had a few options in it. Can't remember all of them but one of them was high beam assist. Since the last software update at dealer they have all disappeared. I wasn't going to buy anything anyway

  • 1 month later...

Just had a look at the shop in my car. Two options to buy...

  1. Ambient Lighting - Additional Colours - yes, at the exorbitant £44
  2. High Beam Control - at £179

I assume the latter is just the Auto dip functionality as I don’t (to my knowledge) have the Matrix headlights

So - this is part of the whole "new" world that Skoda/VW/Seat/Porsche/Audi are going down.

Your car will come with a number of 'standard' features, but if you want to 'enable' the additional features of the hardware, then you have to pay for them to be enabled.  This is why Skoda/VAG introduced the component protection system on a number of the modules - to stop muggin's like me going in with VCDS and enabling up the features.  The number of features will grow over the next couple of months and years to enable more 'additonal' features in the car.

Personally, I don't agree with it, but then again - I have a couple of MK3 Octy's sitting on my driveway and VW see people like myself as 'stealing' money from them by enabling features for free as far as they are concerned.  I personally think it is personalisation, but cars are now homogonous items that canny be 'tampered' with.  The idea is that the 2nd/3rd owners can enable features that maybe the first owners may not have wanted.  Remember, the car is never yours (unless you pay Cash), so its this new world of paying for services on the fly and getting subscriptions out of the back of people's initial purchases.  Its also a way of keeping the cost of the car low.

I struggle with the whole idea of this.

The car has the capability to do something, it's not going to cost us any extra money to let it do it, but we won't let it unless you pay some extra money.

I understand the principles of a free market, but to me it's not Simply Clever, it's Downright Devious and doesn't endear me to the Skoda brand. Rant over.

I can agree that it is not a bargain but the answer to which colours you will get is that you get the full RGB scale. So any colour you want actually. But onlly one at a time, so no rainbow ;-)

Disappointed!  :o For this price I would really expect a rainbow color.

For that price there should be animations and stuff (like in Mercedes Benz and other cars).

So, is the High Beam Control worth the £179?

Seems like a lot to not have to flick the switch - but I do like a few toys...

Sorry to ask stupid question but what High Beam Control accually do?

It switches automatically between low and high beam. As oppose to the dynamic light assist which only switches off some parts of the lights.

But if you have Matrix LED this is not needed, if I am correct as Matrix lights do everything auto and make dark where the object is.. am I correct?

Yes. At least this is how I understand it.

I have a +40 BHP option there. Sounds nice.

Does the additional colours option add sky blue pink? 😉

I've also been offered High Beam Control for £179.

Personally I think if they can offer something on  a download then they can also give you a trial period to see if you like it.

No way I'm going to spend £179 only to find it doesn't work very well. Okay, I guess this is something everyone who ticks an option box risks, but this at least this delivery method gives you a chance to try it out. (unless the software update involves a trip to the dealer of course)
