Delivery times?

I'll chime in with my delivery, not much different than any of yours, unfortunately. vRS ordered 1st week of March. Initially planned for June, then shifted to September and had a colour change because of MY22 (was meant to be a Meteor Grey one, now Mamba Green).

After some period of silence the dealer contacted me and said it's confirmed for week 28, late July. Since then I got info that it's "in production" and that it was painted and assembled on 26th of July.

As of now, the car is still "in production" with no further dates known due to chips shortage (that's what they say). They also say they have cars sitting "in production" since mid-May.

I'm slowly getting used to the thought of going for my September vacation in a rental.

Sigh.

I ordered my car mid May told it would be around start of October, thena few days I was told 16 September.then last Thursday told skoda U.K. Had told them date had changed due to chip shortage to the 5 November.just like you I had planned driving around Spain in the car but that is out of the window then my son  came to my rescue and he is going loan me his car a skoda superb hatchback.he is going to use my wife's Mini Cooper s .one last point he has not had any bother at all with his skoda.

Hello all,

What are peoples experience with delivery times for the ‘basic’ SE trim?

Lots of the discussion on the forum seems to be around delivery times for VRSs.

I’m hoping as the SE trim is more basis in terms of spec that it will require less semi conductors and so won’t suffer delays to the same extent?

I ordered a 1.5tsi SE estate, around a month ago with an estimated delivery date of mid November. Still no build date confirmed and the dealer can’t  give any update in terms of potential delays to the initial reliever estimate, but suggest there will likely be some delay….

Don't know what you mean by SE but I ordered Skoda Octavia 1.0 Ambition and I got 30-35 weeks which means ~8 months. :(

I saw that this message is only for Great Britain region.

Had a quick check with my dealer(the one in charge of all the ones in my part of the world)

Good news is they continue to finish cars(parts are available as it seems the factory is working for how long no one knows)

Bad news is they havent worked during the 2 weeks period...

Spoke to my dealer yesterday, my car has been built but is waiting for chip :(

Read news some time back that factory is closed for week 31 and 32 for holiday and closed most of week 33 due to shortage of chips.

Hello, I ordered a leased 1.5 TSi 150PS SE estate in March. On ordering I was advised delivery would be the beginning of August which I was OK with. I've been getting regular updates saying there was no confirmed build date but my latest update suggests an 'unconfirmed' build date of end of September. I'm now thinking it may be November before I get my car...

It Was there annual holiday shutdown in the past two weeks.

Just been in touch with a friend, and when he pushed was told a factory order maybe March, suggests those being told 31 December are just being given last day of year to avoid quoting realistic 2022 date

Apparently negligible unallocated ones for quick delivery, and not many for 1-5 weeks delivery

Some dealers might have something they ordered for own stock / demonstrators  / staff use, which they might sell you if you specifically ask.  Although some will put themselves ahead of a customer so won’t let you have them.

Much more profit for the Dealership thanks to the HMRC / Tax Payers from a Demonstrator they have for 3 months / 3,000 miles then sell Used.

So how does that work then, they presumably still have to buy the car ex factory price, then sell it, and presumably selling it used is a lower price than selling new, which would usually mean less profit.

I am struggling to see why selling 4 cars that are 3 months old can be more profitable than selling 4 cars that are almost 3 minutes old.

What is the name, or section number of this mythical tax break, of which you suggest.

Value Added Tax.

Not mythical but a game they have all been playing for at least 3 decades.

And yet people still buy into the line that the nearly new car they are buying for more than 83.3% of what the dealer paid including VAT is an ex demonstrator/sales managers car blah blah blah, I read several on here alone every month.

If you dont believe me ask yourself why every person with even the most tenuous family relationship to someone working for a car company gets 4 new cars a year that they must drive for 3 months putting no more than Xmiles on them before exchanging for the next one, even 18 year olds at university who have only just past their test.

Also ask yourself why major fleet customers like car hire companies, fire & intruder alarm installers etc who drive estate cars instead of vans (which would be much more tax efficient)  again have them exchanged every 3 months.

And if the penny still hasn't dropped ask yourself if VAT is payable on second hand vehicles and under what conditions the full amount of VAT can be reclaimed when a company (big clue here, a car company or dealership) buys a new vehicle.

It's not just Octavia. Every car is a **** show. My parents ordered a Tiguan, dealer said 2 months, 2 months later they said sorry maybe 2 more months, maybe more.

Dealer just told me today that current times are 2-3mo for RS iV and about 5mo for e-tec. This in Finland at least.

The article that was posted confirms it pretty much. They are building full speed at the moment, it's just that there are cars backed up waiting for chips.

Was told 2-3 months on my RS IV (mid May) and it has also been built now but is awaiting chip :(

Mine is eventually in tyne dock after almost 8 months of waiting.  At least I now get the new 71 reg.
