Delivery times?

Featured Replies

@alexxutzu No i went to inform myself and ordered a Scala in july which should be at the dealer in oktober. But got the info that those cars (octavia, karoq) are 2022 for certain when ordered with the chips issue.  Probably because of a too high demand and those models need more chips..

I would request bit more info than a vague on track

eg build week and status code

You want to make sure they have actually looked up your order, rather than send a generic answer

I thinking am putting my head in the sand and hoping all will be well in the end.if I get no word in a week or so I will contact them.i did tell them I required the car no later than first week in October ,when I ordered it and up to now and they do keep telling me every Friday the date for delivery is ok and even expect it earlier than the date  I told them ie start of October.

Just thinking with everyone going on about late deliveries.is there anyone who has gotten a early delivery then the anticipated date of hand over?

I did. Was supposed to get the car in the first week of July. Got it on June 11.

Just had a e mail in the last few minutes.delivery including PDI is now 5 November.that drops me right into it.as I said before my car at the present is going back in the next 3 weeks.the new car was supposed be with me between 16 September/ 4 October.we have paid and booked for a 8 week holiday to Spain commencing 10 October.so what can I do now ,I donot know not possible to cancel until laterdate.so standing to lose 2500 pounds on ferry crossing and property rental.it is through a lease company and when ordering i was reassured I would get the car no later than 4 October which was then changed to 16 September.one very p+*^ off customer.

If you have it in writing (or email) that 4th October is the guaranteed latest date, then you have good reason to request a loan car from that date from the company who offered that condition as part of the contract.

If however the date was best endeavours to meet that date basis, then legally you took the risk on choosing to do a trip with the vehicle from 10th October.

Your use of the term reassured worries me, because it’s not clear if it was a date guarantee, or you were hoodwinked into thinking likely.

I personally wouldn’t trust someone that can give an exact delivery to dealer and PDI date 13 weeks ahead, it means they know exactly how long it will be parked at Emden awaiting a ship, which ship it will be sailing on, how long the port will take to load it on a transporter, and date transporter will deliver it.   I don’t know anyone that can advise that to a specific day 3 months in advance.   I’m sorry, but I feel someone is spinning you a yarn.

A PDI date doesn’t mean you get it on that date either, if it is a lease then could take a week or three to get to you.  You might not see it until late November (and if you are away might prefer it to be delivered day after you return, as won’t be able to use it till then)

I have read it over a few times and they were very clever in there wording of it ie we cannot guarantee this delivery time.i have received another e mail stating skoda has provided the update today about deliver 5 November including pdi.just going to have to grin and bare with it.lucky enough my son is going to loan me his car for our holidays and is going to use my wife's car.so all is not lost.disapointing but market forces rules.just disappointed they took my order knowing full well they could not meet the dates I asked for.ie no later than early October and then saying over the phone I should have by 16 September.

just wonder why skoda are still taken orders for cars that they have no idea when they are going get delivered.it makes you wonder how all the motoring mags and online car firms are not raising this issue.i was offered another car but on looking there is not great lot of cars available and the ones that are have gone up in price due to semi conductor shortages  so profiteering going on and customers are the ones who are suffering.

Welcome to the **** world of skoda... i wound never ever accept contract  that doesnt point an exact date in time that fits me.... they abuse their costumers. You cant back off... any car i would ever order wil be with set dates and i wont trust dealers...

Over the years and all of the cats I have had,I have experienced service like this.i have decided to just and grin it.looking else where a lot of car makers are having the same problem like skoda.yet there pr system is rubbish and not fit for purpose.it is just strange how skoda and other car manufacturers have not come clean about the problem in delivery and software.just hope by the time I get mine the software problems will be a distant memory

Hello Folks,

I ordered my Mk4 Vrs diesel 7th Nov 2020 and received it 15th Jan 2021 I had email from Skoda UK to say they had received the order on 9th november 2020. The next email from Skoda on 10th Dec to say car was on its way. They kept me informed throughout my purchase. There was a delay due to covid at the dealership but still received car by 15th Jan.

I was probably one of the lucky ones as I have had no problems so far with the car and have done almost 4k.

My order was for a mk4 vrs 4x4 diesel estate car.told it was delivery 4 October, then changed to 16 September.then yesterday changed to 5 November ,this last e mail was offskoda uk.fingers crossed.

Another update - There is no update. :wall:

The fleet guy did ask this for me -

I have just had a reply from Alan, he has escalated it with the Skoda UK management and is awaiting a response.

I had a Mercedes GLC300e in a similar position for a similar length of time and they have just released it from the factory this week, they are getting the customer to sign a letter of acknowledgement that they are taking delivery of the vehicle with limited function on the navigation and will have the part installed once it becomes available. We believe a number of the manufacturers are going to follow suit as they are out a sizeable amount of revenue by having vehicles undelivered.

I queried as to whether this may be on the horizon with Skoda as an option and will come back to you in due course.

Anyone been offered that as an option?

According to news skoda has problems with esp chips... those are related to stability and given this i doubt they can ship...

What are esp chips and what are they used for?no wise cracks please.heard them all before.

Had another update 5-30 pm today and dealer said.all the information came off skoda uk.stating delivery including pdi   is 5 November.

Many thanks showing my ignorance again.

My car is finally on its way to Emden after 7 months of waiting.  Hopefully, I'll have no issues like other posters but I won't hold my breath.

Just wonder why skoda are pushing advertising there cars and opening new garages ,when they know they have no cars to sell?

You can't stop advertising even if you have no product. They need to keep their name visible among others. There were PS5 advertisements all over the place for half a year after launch and you couldn't buy one anywhere and it's even more important for cars, cars need brand image because they're not just appliances, they are a status symbol too.

It’s deferral alternative advertising by an Oligopoly.
Basically they are trying to stop you spending your money elsewhere, and trying to get you more interested so when available are keen to buy.

It is normally seen ahead of product launches, when a product is advertised, but can’t actually buy it on date of advert.  It is only ever done with higher value products when there are limited number of suppliers (you won’t see this type of advertising for low value products)

Had an email today about mine

Dealer - Your new car is on order and all is progressing as expected

My response - How optimistic is your update given the news https://europe.autonews.com/automakers/skoda-will-cancel-more-shifts-due-chip-shortage-union-says?

Dealer response - That news story is from nearly two weeks ago now and we have seen no knock on effect in delivery estimates, so as far as I can tell it shouldn’t make any difference at all

so I guess its all ok and the issues have been resolved..........

TBF I am not too bothered about the wait, I always add loads of extras and I would rather have a car to the spec I want. Given it is an industry problem I wouldn't have much luck with a different manufacturer. It would be nice if the dealers would be more honest.

I'll chime in with my delivery, not much different than any of yours, unfortunately. vRS ordered 1st week of March. Initially planned for June, then shifted to September and had a colour change because of MY22 (was meant to be a Meteor Grey one, now Mamba Green).

After some period of silence the dealer contacted me and said it's confirmed for week 28, late July. Since then I got info that it's "in production" and that it was painted and assembled on 26th of July.

As of now, the car is still "in production" with no further dates known due to chips shortage (that's what they say). They also say they have cars sitting "in production" since mid-May.

I'm slowly getting used to the thought of going for my September vacation in a rental.

Sigh.
