Order placed week 3
Official build week 18 (second week of May) - status 6
Status changed to 7 according to dealer (late July I guess)

Status 9 week 33

Week 34 picked up my new Octavia hatch 1.5 TSI (non-electric), manual, DCC, Bolero, Style package.

So waited for 6 months.

Since the EC Certificate of Conformity (CoC) says that the "Date of manufacture of the vehicle" was week 27, it might be the case that the car has been stuck on the infamous airport parkinglot for 9 weeks.

Did you check software/hardware versions yet? That's the most interesting part to me in fresh models.

Yes. In what thread do you want me to post that info?

Ordered an Octavia 1.5 SE L e Tech on April 17. It was built week ending August 13 and as of today I still have no idea when it will be shipped as it is waiting for the computer modules.

My concern is that when I finally get the car, its build date will not match the registration date and this could cause a loss of value on trade in. This will get worse the longer the car sits in a lot in the Czech Republic.

I hope everyone gets their car on time!

As an update to my post yesterday, my dealer told me that they value second hand cars on the registration date and not the build date. They could not say if the built cars without chips sets are stored out doors, but they are protected with the plastic transport covering so that also put one of my other concerns to rest.

On a happier note, the value of my current car has increased by approximately £2,500, which the dealer has intimated they will look at passing on once my new car turns up.

@WilRay

They could not say maybe because they do not bother with forums or reading news items on Skoda's stored clearly stored outside & covers other than the transport stuff, and we all know how well that protects some bits, and not so well others.

Dealers are so generous with passing on part of their profits to those trading in or selling cars to them.

They are just cars and are expected to stay outside all their life in most cases, and they are at least not stored at railway sidings, well mostly not and not for long.

At least the plastic covers the top of the car.

When were these photos taken?

Its of particular concern to me as I have a process with new cars to protect the paint with a sealant after initial polishing with a professional grade polish.  I have done this with every new Skoda I have owned since 2010.  Its much more work if the paint or clear coat is already contaminated.

Just to prove my point, here are a couple of photos of my 2 year old 2.0L DSG I took after the last time I cleaned it.

This is probably not the right thread to discuss cleaning in detail, if you like I can start a new thread - but briefly - I don't have access to an enclosed space as I live in a flat. This also means I am limited as to the amount of water I can carry out to the car park.

I try to choose a calm day, a little overcast if possible. Snow foam first then rinse, good quality car shampoo, rinse, then professional polish, clean off with Isopropyl alcohol, then lastly paint sealant.

If you are interested in the products I use we can carry this conversation on in a new Clea

I'm in the same situation as you.

Ordered in March. In July I was told it had an unconfirmed build week (week 34), which has now passed (last week) and I'm now back to 'build week not allocated'. Not even allocated another provisional build week, so just right back to the start (or so it feels).

My situation sounds a bit like yours but I ordered mine in May and got a build date for week 27/28 and was told in week 33 that my car has been built but waiting for semiconductors 😞

I just got a call from my dealer and an e-mail from a supplier for my country...

He told me that the main supplier(which sent me an e-mail) got an e-mail from Škoda Auto a.s. about the cars that are not being produced on time.

Basically they just informed the supplier that they are not building cars on time, and that they need to prepare the customers for the new delays 😅

In the mail i got the same old story about semiconductor shortage, and them not knowing when the car will be built/finished.

At least they kind of informed me... and that is the first info i got since 12. April

Oh and the dealer told me that they will "probably" have more infos at the end of September(whatever he meant with that) 🙃

Hi,

I ordered mine in May and was told that it would be ready mid August. I said to hold it till Sept 1st so I got a 71 plate however mid August and it's the same story as you guy's. Delayed due to lack of chips. Called Skoda UK customer services today who are as useful as a chocolate fireguard and basically said contact your dealer for updates and not them.

I know part of the problem is down to the massive fire at the Renesas factory earlier this year. They produce around 60% of the specialist chips and systems used in modern cars for sensors, cameras etc. They have restarted manufacturing however latest is that it could be mid June 2022 before they are back to the pre-fire rates of production.

If you Google it you will see how serious the fire was. Place was gutted.

I hope VAG are using this time to sort all the software bugs (sorry, features) that plagues the Octavia and others.

John
