Blower motor / Aircon

Featured Replies

I’ve got a 2009 fabia 2 1.4 tdi

just noticed today my Climatronic electric aircon blowers have backed up 🤦‍♂️

It’s not blowing on any speed setting at all.

I can see the blower fan housing and 2 lower screws looking up under the glove box but can’t see how to remove the box so I can get to the other screws.

anyone got any ideas? Looks like easy replacement so long as I can get behind the glovebox!

Cheers all

You should check fuses first.

Thanks for the reply, yeah probably a good idea!

Do you know what fuse il be looking at?

Thank you

Fuse 39 seems to be fine - looks like that has a fan picture on the diagram.

Are there any others to check?

Not sure about fuses but if its the motor, its a dash out job! The climatic versions have a resistor that goes squiffy and needs replacing via the glove box but on the climatronic type, its built in to the motor so a bigger job. The actual fan is quite expensive and labour etc makes it around a £500 job. Worth doing yourself if you are able but steering wheel has to come off, along with the one-piece dash.

There HAVE seen a few posts over time suggesting it is possible to dob part removal of the dash but I would think the job is made so much harder, hence the dealer or specialist will go straight for the removal...

Have you tried putting your hand up inside the interior air-con filter housing, to feel the fan and see if it is seized or if it rotates easily? If seized, it will be obvious that it needs replacing/rebuilding if possible.

Thank for the reply matey

I haven’t tried putting my hand up around it because I thought it was a sealed unit but hand up the Cabin filters a good shout after your advice I will have a go. Be good if it just needs a nudge!

Dash out seems a bit excessive I was worried that would be the case tho after trying to find screws!

Tight squeeze for my hand but it appears to be spinning freely 🤷‍♂️

If anyone knows of any other fuses relating to the fan it would be great appreciated 😀

Have you definitely checked the right one? Sometimes Skoda fail to differentiate clearly between LHD and RHD fuse layouts, leading to confusion.

The correct one is 25 Amp rated.

I’m pretty sure I did, it was on the left side of all the fuses, will double check tomorrow tho.

Thanks mate, il try find the video. Your not filling me with much confidence tho I must admit!

At the moment it won’t run on any setting at all, and the display flashes for a few seconds on start up indicating a fault it has been working fine previously only noticed it not working today 😞

I’ve found the video - it’s looks epic. There’s slim chance of me not having a bowl of screws left over after refitting the dash!

Some of the comments suggest there’s enough room to wiggle it out / get to the screws but just removing the Ac unit, stero and passenger airbag. Any thoughts on this?
