Octavia mk III LED headlamp conversion

Featured Replies

I have recently bought a 2016 Greenline estate. Although the interior is fine, the exterior looks a little dated with the yellow halogen headlights.

I was looking at replacing the factory halogen bulbs with white HID or LED bulbs but reading online it seems that current UK legislation does not permit this(?).

Instead, I am wondering whether I can change the entire headlamp unit to an LED one. Does anyone have any experience of this? Is it possible? Legal? How costly was it?

Many thanks

The latest MOT Regulations specifically state that if either HID or LED bulbs have been fitted to a headlamp only approved for Halogens then that is an MOT fail.

Plus I would add that the non-FL cars have an issue with overloading the internal reflective surfaces of the headlamp and blinding other road surfaces (so don't go above 120% Phillips Activision lights).
