Octavia 2 Lucas rear brake piston windback tool

Featured Replies

Anyone wound back one of these Lucas pistons with the cheese slice shaped slots. Wondering what the equivalent PCD is, and if one of these Laser piston cubes might do the trick.

Cheers TheClient, I was just being a skinflint as i got a £10 Halfords voucher by email.have a Laser windback that fits Fords but the adaptors dont match my Octy pistons. Both are 3/8" drive so might use a cube with the driver handles off this!

Ill take a photo of the laser adaptors I've got. But yes, probably lots of ways to adapt. If the caliper pistons are not too frozen up, usually a big screwdriver (or similar) between the piston slot, allows turn back.

In a pinch you could try a pair of long nose pliers in the notches, the piston should turn easily/smoothly.  If you need to use an adjustable spanner or similar on the pliers' hinge for leverage I would suggest removing the piston, inner seal and dust seal to clean up what's causing the tight movement otherwise you could have a binding brake at some time.

Looked at mine. I just have the one adaptor with two choices of face. One has two pins inward, the other they are towards the outside.  Works for my bosch rear calipers but contrary to what I said earlier the trw piston is probably, almost certainly different.

Can't remember if it is Draper or Sealed, but you can get an adapter plate for your tool that has a pair of pins that are automatically adjustable. Thay widen or get narrower as you turn it. Quite fine but strong pins fit all sorts.

Aye, that's the thing. My brother has one that I've used a few times. The pins look worryingly thin, but they are very strong. I've a rewind kit with about 20 adaptors yet sometimes none of them fit.
