He did say this in a response to a question on death however   "In the event that I am reincarnated, I would like to return as a deadly virus, to contribute something to solving overpopulation (1988)"

 

A remarkable man with more than a dash of roguishness about him   

 

I gather the funeral will be Saturday 17th. Not a state funeral, but should be televised.

Did not look in the best of health when he came out of hospital a few weeks ago.A sad loss.RIP.

A good innings and all that but he was 99 had been ill and two months short of getting a telegram from his missus. A bit 'edgy' by all accounts.

TBH I think the blanket coverage on all BBC channels including 6Music a bit OTT. Even BBC4  suspended programming. Why? Some people don't need blanket coverage.

Been watching some of the TV programmes about him today...   What an amazing life and man and what a childhood he had!  Massive respect for him.
