Cruise control retrofit ASY/SDI engine

Featured Replies

Looking to retrofit cruise control onto my sdi as have been doing quite a bit of motorway driving through average speed zones.

I have read on older posts that it is dependent on what ECU is fitted but where would I find that information?

I have read that it may not be possible to fit the the sdi engine due to the lower power output? Seems a shame if that is the case as mine eats up motorway miles happily.

You could try messaging Tech1e who used to be a Skoda Master Technician and knows all about cruise control as he used to retrofit them.

I think that's foetid dingo's kidneys; what may well be an issue is if the SDi has a cable throttle rather than drive by wire like the turbo diesels.

It definitely has an electronic throttle.

Well at that rate, you need the switch, wiring loom, and VCDS to map it in, like on any TDi with drive by wire.

Mine does have a compatible control unit. I can see that a wire goes into the brake peddle plug and one goes behind the instrument cluster however where does the t6y plug go?

It's the light brown connector in this shot of the onboard supply control unit, above the accelerator pedal, I think.

Ignore the blue arrow/circle they were highlighting something else.
