1.2 htp high mileage

Featured Replies

Just serviced our 2011 1.2 Fabia which has a CHFA 44kw engine. It’s now on 143437 miles, doesn’t use any oil between services and runs as good as it ever has. Anyone on here got one with higher mileage ? It’s been in semi retirement for the last year, but I’m thinking of using it more to see if it’ll do 200k.

Our Mk1 Fabia HTP got up to about 175k on the original engine. I recently transplanted a much lower mileage one in after the original started showing signs of imminent death.

12-valve AZQ code one though, so not completely comparable.

I've yet to tear down the old one, but I think bottom end wear and tear.

It’s a good guide, I guess the bottom ends are similar?

If I use this one every day it’s going to get a lot of 70 mph running which might wear it out faster than it’s current shopping trolley, spare car role.

I dunno about that, if anything it might be better for it. The main driver of ours isn't fabulously good at picking the right gear at slower speeds, so I think 'labouring' the engine was probably the death of ours.

Motorway driving doesnt put much load on the engine. So long as its serviced properly and not neglected there's no reason it wouldnt last another few years easily.
