Awesome write up, parts list and photo's. Great saturday afternoon "project" to do with my 8 year old son as help!

This is a mega guide - thanks.  I’ve just brought an Octavia mk3 estate SE L and really keen to do this, as well as add the wireless charger in the front cubby but.  Has anyone found USB-c kit to do this in the rear?  I know the mk4 has 2x usb-c.  I prefer to retrofit mine with those if they’re available.

Brilliant Pics, guide, and write up.

I'm gonna be all over this retrofit for my car too!

Thanks for taking the time to upload for our benefit

Is the new genuine console the same colour as the old one and side panels. It's hard to tell from your images. I ordered the ali express one but it's black so my ocd can't cope with it.

Hi I'm 99% sure it is I'll check tomorrow.

Has anyone done this recently? I think the cubby hole the AliExpress kit has would be more useful to my kids than an ashtray but the mismatched colours would set off my OCD too!

Hmm, picked out the parts on skoda-parts.com using the part numbers in the original post and after adding the VIN for my pre-facelift 2015 1.2tsi (manufactured in 2014), I'm getting the "This part does not fit your car" warning...

is that simply because it wasn't originally spec'd on my car? Because these only became an option on the facelift but still actually fit on the pre-facelift?

Hi Sleepy_Nonah

Yes you are perfectly correct as the parts quoted are a retro fit not OEM fitted!

Just wanted to add my thanks to the OP for this guide, fitted mine yesterday using the complete kit ordered from Aliexpress. I did have one failed attempt a week or so ago where I just could not get the 12v socket out, I ended up ordering one of these T-bar removal tools (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/404734386802), which worked a treat, though did still require an uncomfortable amount of force to remove.

Couldn't be bothered to remove the glove box to get to the fuse panel so just disconnected the battery -ve to do the job.

Thanks to the OP and those who've contributed pics. This is a great guide. Just did this with the aliexpress kit in about half an hour on my pre-facelidt Mk3. Just ahead of a holiday to France so the kids will be delighted!

As most have commented, the hardest part is removing the cigarette lighter. Couldn't source the tool easily or cheaply so managed it with a couple of phase test screwdrivers.

im not 'that' dedicated to perfection ... brilliant write up

i tend to take a lateral 'heath robinson look at problems ... i bought a anker bank charger ... stuck it in a pouch with the leads and it charges as travelling alone and into glove box ... then any emergency ... out comes the bank and they get to charge at will :)

Well... I failed miserably. But it's my fault because I bought the wrong kit for my car.

This is the one I bought https://a.aliexpress.com/_mKH4bQL ... could someone help me out figuring what parts I need to buy to use this plugs? I alreadyd did the hard part of wiring the cables.

Cheers!

Well I fitted this over the weekend and what a faf it was without the 12v socket removal tool . The whole install is very easy once the 12v socket is out.
