Mk4 Octavia Infotainment System

Featured Replies

Hi

For anybody who is interested I got my Octavia MK4 end of March 2021 I have had issues with the infotainment system just not working properly doesn't save

my settings. I now have it booked in for a big software update its called a Field Campaign 90Q9 update.

Many Thanks

Mark

Welcome to the Failed Octavia MK4 club.

I'd say the whole infotainment software needs a rewrite by someone who knows what they are doing!!

Skoda Connect still doesn't work, although it did for a while. Just tried setting it up again after the app update and it still doesn't work. Still stuck on the screen saying "Finish the activation".

It is bloody finished!!!! I configured the primary user settings (again) with the 2 key fobs and it still doesn't work. VIN number is correct etc.....

I expect Skoda to give me a year free from the date they actually fix this!!

Look forward to hearing if the update work for you. Mine was in 2wks ago and there were not able to sort it ans Skoda UK are looking into it.

Skoda are looking into absolutely everything I think. They should have looked into all this before they sold the car!

Whilst there are several folk here who have issues with their Mk4 Octavia, and I am one of those, it is worth noting that not ALL the Mk4s have issues. Whilst my SEL First Edition is being investigated by Skoda UK for a variety of issues (mainly KPH/MPH) my loan car (1.0 eTEC SE First Edition) has been faultless over five weeks and 2500+ miles.

Perhaps too simplistic, but it seems to me that it is those early built cars with the Columbus infotainment system that have the majority of issues and are tarnishing the Mk4 - so we should be careful not to damn all variants.

Well, that bit is true for mine, at least ;-)

Wish mine was good. How do I determine the build date?

Not sure when mine was. Ut, but it was first reg March 21

Mine was registered  the end of April, means very little though.

Not that it matters too much as its currently on the dealers forecourt and they have both sets of keys - has left me without a car though (one car family).

My rejected Octavia MK4 had the Swing infotainment.

From the user-info given primarily in the KPH thread, it can be any system, and build, First Edition, not First Edition, any engine type, etc etc....

I wouldn't touch another MK4 with a bargepole, I don't care what supposed differences to my model there are.

@Gax - I was aware you’d had problems with your Mk4 but missed that it had the Swing and you’ve clearly had a very poor experience. And yes, my conclusion appears way too simplistic! Sorry about that.

It does remain though, that whilst the loan car is not the variant/spec I bought, it is working faultlessly so far.

This is where Volkswagen, Skoda (in CZ) and Skoda UK are at major fault....as THEY must surely know which variant/s of the vehicle do and don't have the faults (or at least susceptible to them) and should remove the errant models from the market, at least for inspection. The consumer in the UK cannot win in this respect though, as the dealers are bemoaning the cars being given to them (and I sympathise with that), and Skoda UK are saying they are merely the distributor of the vehicles (I have no sympathy for them, they should cease importing the MK4 full stop or the suspected faulty variant/s).

But this sadly is not happening, as this forum seems to have a variety even of build dates with the faults, and you can still find F.E.'s on sale on some dealer websites as well.

I'm keeping an eye on my dealers website, and while my MK4 has not appeared yet I strongly suspect it will just as soon as my finance agreement is showing as closed.

As I read on the German forum, latest version 1803 is the only version without any issues. Unfortunately, 1803 will not be part of the OTA update, it is only installed by the dealer if you have "know issues" that are solved with this version.

However, 1803 is only available on the latest HW variants I believe.

Yes, D and E versions if I'm not mistaken.

So 1803 will not be a fix for those with C versions or earlier. IMHO this means that Skoda UK should be paying for the hardware to be updated to the latest E version on those cars.

Probably there will be new 16xx version for the A,B,C hardware revision that will solve all current issues, but you must understand that this car has several CAN modules besides infotainment, each with his own software version. Maybe some of  issues people are having are not strictly related to just infotainment unit.

1803 version mentioned above comes with the new cars and probably all other CAN modules have the latest software versions.

It would be interesting to extract CAN module version using obdtool/VCDS/obdeleven and compare cars that have issues and cars that don't.

My car is from May 2021 with 1803. I don't have any issues whatsoever. Only irritating thing is slow infotainment boot (I have to wait almost a minute to disable start/stop) and skoda connect statistics and information doesn't update every time. But everything else  is working great.

Which I hope is what Skoda UK are doing with all our cars that are off the road. The number of CAN modules and the complexity is probably why it’s taking what feels like forever to get a fix.

A reason to be patient whilst they sort it - yet a reason to be frustrated because they should have done it before selling the things!

At the moment, my patience is winning that dichotomy; not sure how long for though….

According to the Infotainment screen the system had an update a couple of days ago, but I can't see what was affected. I saw once that my SW version is 1788, but can I find that screen again? Not likely! Will some kind person remind me how to access it, please?

Your car is from May..but i guess not produced in May right? Production date should be somewhere in the papers
