OEM ambient lighting retrofit

Recommended Posts

@SashaGrace

Hello Sasha and company,

Please, I have a split car and I would like advice on where to connect the 3 wires.

1 - connect the red wire to position No. 8 and put a 7.5A fuse there

2 - On BMC to pin 29 connector C violet yellow

3 - I will put the brown one to the fuse box on the screw

What I don't know

4 - to which pin and to which connector should I connect the red and white wire in the RJ door or in the inter-door harness

5 - to which pin and to which connector should I connect the purple-yellow wire in the RJ door or in the door harness

6 - I have the brown wire of the frame mounted in the door, I'll just connect it

I am adding a few photos.

Hi guys I just bought oem lights from Amazon I connected them to existing Footwell lights plus and minus and to existing pin 29 and don't work. Can you tell me please if I connect those lights just to plus and minus should they light up as white? Or it need to be 3rd cable connected to it to work . At the moment I don't know they working or not I don't know how to check . One more thing I have ambient lights in doors already and I coded radio I see colours in radio .

Small update in my case . I have ordered one genuine light and nothing works.

Show us what you’ve done and what is not working and what tests you have carried out?

if it’s as above and only got a power and ground it won’t do anything. It needs the lin wire and the correct signals and coding.

it is a smart light with a micro controller that needs to be told what to do, can’t just be powered up

Hello,

Can anyone help with the correct purpose for each wire?
Wich one is for LIN, + and - ?

Can I light them up without the LIN bus being connected?

Thanks!

Do you have the correct BCM? If not, that’ll need changing too. 5Q0937084CG or DD is good along with some others but 084CF is no good. If you have Pin 29 on connector C you are good. Floor lights are a must too IMO.

I've 5Q0937084DK is good FOR AMBIENT LIGHTING?

As per your other thread, it depends what your kit needs.

OEM ambient lighting takes a permanent live feed from fuse 8:

found lots of LIN lights on the web with some searching.

8W0 947 415s for the footwells

8W0 919 390s for the doors

then 7p6 919 390 for the charger port... how can i find out which connectors are used? Which diagram on say lll parts?

the kodiaq already has ambient in the doors, I'm assuming the BCM can handle this, I will take a look tomorrow and see if I can connect to it cleanly.
