Octavia IV Lane assist How to turn it off

Featured Replies

Just taken delivery of an Octavia VRS estate.

So far so good, but I need a 10 year old that's used to playing games on his/her computer to show me how to work the infotainment system.

My BIG problem is lane assist which sounds like a good idea, but while driving home for the first time it must have detected a car parked on the pavement and tried to turn me into oncoming traffic. The handbook (downloaded from the internet) tells me that I can turn it off but that only lasts until the next time the car is started. Does anyone know if its possible to turn it off permanently?

Safety features are a good idea, but I want to choose when to use them, and I want to drive the car....not a computer.

HELP!!!

Scott

Simple answer, No you can’t turn it off permanently.

You can disable it quickly using the driver assistance button on the right hand side of the steering wheel and then push the rolling switch (also on the right hand side).

You can do this when driving if you forget before you start.

Thanks. I was afraid that was the case

The hire ford Kuga I have at the moment is exactly the same and it defaults to on every time I restart the car.  The difference is a single button on the end of the indicator stalk that turns it off in one click.

Obviously these systems were designed for ideal conditions and no potholes. I keep trying to avoid potholes at the road edge and it keeps trying to pull me back into them! - It likes to try to pull me into a local bus lane too 🙄

It is possible to enable memory function for Lane Assist. But you need to have access to Skoda servers to obtain SFD token in order to change the settings.

Also can't cope with rural roads - mine either tries to steer me into oncoming traffic or beeps loudly and flashes a red screen shouting at me to drive in the middle of the lane.  Which I am.  More distracting than assisting...

Honestly it's amazing how quickly your muscle-memory has you pressing the start button and flicking the lane-assist off 0.5 seconds later before you have even realised you are doing it.

Not true, lane assist memory function can be enabled using VCDS without SFD tokens. I did it on my car.

Sorry, yes. You are correct. I mixed it up with the rear DRL lights.

I find I am indicating more if I move of line as this overrides lane assistance.
