Satnav fault Octavia iV: Skoda claims its not a known issue so please comment

Featured Replies

Our Octavia Estate iV is a fine car, but I cannot save favourites. It went in for a software update on June 17th and favourites could be then saved afterwards for the first time. Four days later all the favourites had gone and I could no longer save favourites. It was due to go in on Thursday for a diagnosis, but after speaking to Skoda UK the dealer was told it's not a known issue and the car has all the latest software updates. Therefore there is no point travelling 30 miles each way. I'm asking for help: how many owners have had problems with the satnav, has it been reported to Skoda UK and has it been fixed? I need some evidence to counter the comment about it not being a known issue. Many thanks Jim

My Sat Nav "lost" it's database about 2 weeks ago, so won't load. It's going to the Main Dealer for a second go at fixing it.

I have the same fault, sat nav not saving favourites, previous destinations, comprehensive or Brief instructions. Car has been to Marshalls of Barnstaple and there senior tech has been liasing with Skoda UK. No explanations yet.

I live in the Netherlands and I am facing the same problems with my Satnav. Pon (the Dutch Distributor) still has no solution for this matter. It is really annoying wenn you drive 50.000 km a year to different clients. in 3 weeks my car returns to the dealership and I hope it will fix the problems.

Do you really use Skoda own Satnav? In my opinion it's worst Satnav ever.

I use TomTom via CarPlay.

It's better than either the Karoq satnav or my TomTom. Very accurate and excellent graphics.

Just accepted Skodas offer to reject the vehicle based on sat nav, AC issues. They dont know why the issues occur in random vehicles, and from the discussions we have had dont have a fix anytime soon

How easy was the process? Mine went into the Dealer today for a second go at reinstating the Sat Nav data base - to no avail..

The car was leased, so we emailed vw financial services,  who came back with the offer, no haggling.  Vwfs rang yesterday to arrange for BCA car auctions to come and inspect the car. Some poor sidmis going to end up buying the car with all the faults

If you had advised supplying dealer and listed faults to be fixed otherwise you reject, they have one go (not multiple goes) to fix all the faults, if they couldn’t fix, you could have not collected the car and got your refund there and then.

I have given longer explanation today in this thread

My suggestion is if dealer tries to delay, simply ask if they need your debit card to process the refund. That will make them realise rejection and refund is happening today.

I have the same problem , I saved a couple of favourites and now they are lost . Yesterday the appeared for a while but on the next start of the vehicle they where lost again

I got mine in the summer and went on holiday to discover the sat nav works in metric - distances in Km and metres Took it in the the sealer for two days and it was reurtned no better and now it does not accept post codes and the dash does not show and distances or  trip at all.

The dealer is unhelpful.

I have the same issues with the sat nav not saving any settings or destinations, and Skoda are well aware of it from my emails with customer service

I am having issues too with the touch screen.  I can see that many more people are having problems especially in the 2015 16 and 17 model.

I have a 2017 SKOD Yeti.  I have contacted SKODA but no luck with them.  I have now contacted a paper and am waiting for them to reply

to see if they are interested in the story.  It seems clear to me that SKODA are keeping their heads down and just letting people pay for

repairs etc.

There is no doubt about it after reading many complaints that SKODA do know there are issues.  I think they should fork out for all

the faulty Sat Navs.  Instead, they are letting unsuspecting Jo public pay out for their faulty gear and almost making it as if 'you are the only one'

so to speak.

My 2020 Octavia came with the Sat Nav giving distances in Kilometres but speaking in English.  It took several months for Skoda to sort it and the local dealer to do the reprograming.   Even now you can't type in a post code to get a destination. You have to write the place name in.

Really rather poor by Skoda and VAG because these faults apply to other VAG cars as well.

Just a flag but this is the Mk IV Octavia forum, so models 2020 onwards.  I believe the issues you are discussing won't be relevant to this group.  You would be better off posting on the Yeti forum to get any feedback from other owners.

Hi - Thank you very much for this.  I appreciate it.

The MIB2 touchscreen fault is well documented and a common fault on later Yeti's. The digitiser fails.

Fortunately it's an easy fix.  Either a £25 DIY job or around £99 to get it repaired.
