Fabia 2011 1.6tdi 75ps exhaust gas temperature sensor

Featured Replies

Had engine management light come on,had it diagnostic and came up with the code  P242a, circuit bank 1, sensor 3. Does anyone know the part number for this sensor? Many thanks

Managed to get the sensor off and this one is the one that goes before the turbo. The part number is 03L906088BK

Found one on eBay for £45. Size 17 spanner and 10 mins to get off as it’s awkward to get to. So if you’ve got a 2011 fabia mk2 1.6tdi 75kw this the part number 👍

Hi Matt. Where abouts is this located in the engine bay? I’ve got the same issue and hoping to fix it myself.

It’s under the turbo, tricky to get to as not a lot of space. Best way I found was undo it with a size 17mm spanner from top, when loose go under the turbo and undo by hand. Not much space and awkward to get too. Hope this helps. Don’t a cheap one from eBay like me as the light has come on again and I’m getting one from tps tomorrow

Nice one. Seems like something I should be able to do. Do you have a link to the right part? I’ve got the part code but lots ones on eBay not sure to trust them.

The one I bought as I asked the seller if this fits my car, they did a check and said yes. Ordered it for £45, fitted it and the light came back on once cleared the code on the computer. Wouldn’t recommend a cheap patten part as I’ve lost out on returning it as I’ve fitted it and it’s been used. Best to call TPS or go direct to Skoda as you know it be the right part

As an update. I’ve replaced the lambda sensor as when I replaced the sensor before the turbo it was coming up with the p242a code still,  since this I’ve had no more issues. Fingers crossed

Hey. Thanks for the update.
according to a person on my post bank 1 sensor 3 is under the Cat and not the ones we’ve took photos of. They provided a diagram but I’m still not 100% sure exactly where it is cos the diagram had a few sensors on it.

I’ve been looking for diagrams and that to see where they are. But since I’ve replaced the lambda sensor it’s been fine. I had a look when I was changing the sensor, the other sensor which I thought it could be is further down the back of the engine. You can just about see it and looks difficult to change from the top side. So where the first sensor I replaced. Look down the gap and you can see another sensor further down. Maybe it could be that one

This is the only diagram I came across. This one was saying that the bank 1 sensor 3 is (number 5). Obviously is the light comes back on again then that one will be getting replaced next

Nice one. Probably be the most awkward one to reach that is the right one to replace!

The Haynes manual doesn’t even mention these sensors, so frustrating.

They don’t make it easy do they.

You could unplug one at a time, go for a drive and see what fault codes get created each time? Different code, wrong sensor to replace.  Just an idea.

I went for a drive, plugged in diagnostic computer. Did a temp reading and the senosors was all reading fine. Nothing wasn’t showing out of the ordinary

OK, now unplug the connector of the one you think might be sensor 3, and see if it now reads wildly different, or says error or something.

I’ve got a funny feeling the one that’s been causing the issue is buried down the back and I can even see where the plug is disconnect. I’ve got a feeling have to take off the belly pan and go from underneath as you can just about see it through the gap

What about unplugging the connector of the temp sensor  you've replaced and see which temperature reading changes/disappears on your scanner?

  • Author

That’s what I was thing of doing. But atm it’s seems to be fine so if it reoccurs then that’s what I be doing next 👍

Number 15 is the one you need to replace. I’ve found out the hard way and already replaced 2 sensors 🤦🏻‍♂️. If you look between the turbo through the gap you can see it just about at the back middle and the connector is located in gap of the air box and engine, brown plug.

Thanks mate, did your error lights come on again?

I still need to order the part, being soo lazy about it. I've got some time off soon so will be able to get it sorted then thanks for the update.

  • Author

Yeah came back on again. It’s weird as I’ve replaced the lambda sensor, it takes around 30 mins for the light to ping back up. I’m in the process of ordering one now and not looking forward to fitting it tho as looks fiddly to do.

Surprised you've ordered a new one as you've clearly got 2 other good ones you've replaced? :-)

Hi matt.

same engine as you, do you have the part number to hand? The one you originally replaced is sensor 1.

you must be doing something right as my temperature showing as 999 degrees.

I'm assuming they're all the same sensor type as (except the Lambda obviously) just in different positions?

I expect they all have different part numbers, personally.  Difference may only be connector colour or cable length etc. though.

For RHD CAYC I'm seeing it as this one:
