If a mild hybrid or PHEV there will be Auto's but when they get their sh-it together and build enough of them and Enyaqs to have low average emissions they can have manuals in the UK again.

@Skomaz - you may have to change her name from SWMBO to SWML ( must listen ) because if she still wants a new car then unless you drive something produced by a manufacturer who builds less than 1000 units per year, auto will be the only choice after 2030.

Current predictionis are that Hybrids will still be available in the UK until 2035 but they'll need to ravel a substantial distance in zero emission mode - i.e. via battery hence auto only.

I very much doubt manuals will be manufactured again. If they do make a re-appearance it'll be to use up current stocks.

  • Well, after a 7 month wait, I picked up my Sportline facelift today. All options present, including Canton, and the electric child locks with the family pack.

If the next generation Kodiaq comes just as Auto's until the end of production for First Registration in the UK they will need to get the DSG's sorted out.

The 400e' DSG's might be OK for PHEV's, 40,000 mile service interval, difficult filter changes, they show no filter change required,

but the DQ381's might need to have revised Service Intervals and a Oil Filter more easily accessible.

The currently available in other models 1.4 TSI PHEV's have to be on a Fixed annual Service Regime for engine Oil & Filter changes, the Haldex and DSG oil changes and now VW Group / Skoda showing Brake Fluid changes as @ 2 year intervals makes for rather expensive Servicing & Maintenance running costs.

Plus electric charging costs are not cheap for those without off peak tariffs.

We will see what we see when eventually the all new Kodiaq,s are revealed.

They still make manual Kodiaq's for certain other countries but they've been dropped from the UK option list. I imagine it's because sales of the manual were low, and the DSG boxes probably cost about £100 more to make, but they can bump up the prices up by a few £k. It's a shame because the manual +1.5 engine is a really good combination, based on my manual MY23 Kodiaq.
You can still get the Tarraco as a manual as well, if people want what is effectively a manual Kodiaq.

Not as a 4x4 though - they are all DSG...   so that rules those out as well as we need the 4x4 element.

Ah well - I guess they call it 'progress'...

He told me, that my Kodiaq it´s on the boat...and i ask him, if it was on the Grande Europa, or in the Parana (2 of the boats that are comming to Portugal)...he says that i know more than he does... Your English is better than mine and I'm Scottish. 🤣

ordered my kodiaq beginning of February and dealer said his ipad was showing 26+ weeks for build so put it about august but has put handover as 30th november because its a Motability car so he said its better to have extra time because if its early then great but if its late then Motability start chasing them so i basically have no idea when il be getting it :(...looked at an enyaq but missus didnt like it as much as the kodiaq plus enyaq was showing 12 months+ wait

@mrvinyl do you have a car from Motability now and is this due to be handed back in May or june?

There is the lowest 5,499 Advance Payment at  on the Enyaq that comes into things compared to £2,995 with a Kodiaq.

Motability extend your current lease, they do not chase anyone to hurry up a cars delivery.

I’m not being funny (and I’m not trying to be insulting either) - but I think you’ll find that it is the future. Whether or not it’s the best possible version of the future we could have gone for is definitely debatable… but the world is moving towards electric cars whether you (or I, or anyone) likes it or not.

Also, out of curiosity, how many 250+ mile journeys, or even combinations of journeys in a single day, do you do? If the answer is none or not many, then you really wouldn’t spend any time waiting for it to charge (assuming of course you can charge it overnight).

For me it’s the simple economics at the moment, they’re just too damn expensive.

For Motability finance / the Charity Ev,s were very much the future.  They are the biggest group buyer in the UK.  The manufacturers were going to get lots of low emission first registrations to help get the UK fleet average emissions low.  They were doing great deals with Motability.  People could get low or nil advance payments on EV,s for transport. Free chargers fitted and very low off peak charging.   Well that has gone all to pot.    COVID, chip shortage and actual disabled drivers without home charging and difficulty using public chargers because they have disabilities.  Maybe not a problem for drivers that drive the person who has the disabilities.  Then public charging is expensive for many.  Cars using just 50 kW chargers or less can mean on journeys a 40 minute wait or longer when charging is a matter or waiting in a queue.    As it is Motability is still pushing EV,s and campaigning on better charging infrastructure.   What a pity they can not make sure the Dealers servicing them for disabled customers can get better treatment, automatic courtesy cars etc.

What was the model? Ambition? Sport? Have you included extras? I've ordered mine in the begining of December 22 in Portugal as well.. I'm worried how long it will take 😟

It was Ambition with pack inspire, no more extras...and i regret for the towing kit... ☹️

February 22 until now...without the Kodiaq...

Have you got any reply from the seller? Production week, or something?

i think we can politely agree to disagree :)...plus the extra cost of the vehicle plus how much it would cost to charge (we dont have a cheap rate) would make it impossible to offset the cost over a 3 year lease

I think that's actually us agreeing... 😉

Even at 35 pence a kWh for electric at home that is £3.50 for 10 kWh.  So if you get 3.5 miles a kWh that is 35 miles,. 70 miles for £7.    Pretty good from a big comfy SUV if that is what you need for your transport.   £71.40 a week to lease from Motability but then there is that Advance payment to come up with.    Cheap rate home charge tariffs are stil available for some now and might be returning with more of the utility provides.     With the Kodiaq you are paying out the £3,000 or  £3,500 and getting your 35-40 mpg or whatever.

No need to worry Yogi, that certainly didn't come over as being insulting. 100% true that there's nothing we can do about it, well there is one thing - keep out ICE until the tech becomes better. I believe current thought is plug-in will still be available until 2035 which is an option albeit an expensive one.

But it's your 250+ mile journeys I take issue with. Right at this moment, given the current weather, I wouldn't want to be travelling over 150miles in an Enyaq 60 before range anxiety set in.

And if we just look at this morning's news of holdups on motorways in freezing conditions - what happens if you're subjected to many hours in the car and the battery charge is low?  I can still have my heater on in an ICE and in those conditions, if I did run out, I carry a spare gallon of petrol in the boot. What does an Enyaq driver do?   It'd be freaking me out. I'll be waiting until the technology improves before I'd be comfortable with an EV.
