Key pouch

Featured Replies

Hi, I bought a key pouch for my key fob to protect them from being zapped (if that’s the right word) only problem is I can still unlock my car by using the door handle. So is my key fob protected or not?

i have recently purchased a 50 gram tobacco tin to put key fob in but again with the keys in the tin I can still open my car door using the door handle. This make me wonder if  the key fob is protected from out side scanning equipment.

any advice appreciated.

i have a Karoq now not a Yeti.

It's not working.

If you can open your car with the key in a faraday pouch, either the pouch is useless, you haven’t put the key in the screened section of the pouch, or your second key is in range of the car.

Hi Kenny, thank you for your reply. The key is in the screened part of the pouch but the door unlocks while I’m stood next to the car which I didn’t expect that to happen. Now put keys in a tobacco tin and the same thing happens.

maybe I’m to close to the car, would the door still unlock if i was some distance from the car, that’s with the keys in a tin.

I can only assume there must be some area of pouch / tin that is allowing a signal to 'escape'.  I put my Swift kessy key in a pouch and holding it next to the handle it still doesn't unlock, so I'd expect the Skoda keys to be similar.

The KESSY keys aren't 'zapped', they constantly emit a weak radio signal (that is turned off when the key has been stationary for a period of 5 to 15 minutes - depending on when they were made). It is this radio signal that is detected by the car (or a would-be thief) to let you open the car when you are near it.

A Faraday pouch will stop the radio signal leaking out, but a tin may not work as well as there are gaps around the lid that let the radio signal through.

My pouch is certainly effective, so I think you need to replace yours (assuming as has been said that you are putting the keys in the correct internal section and closing it firmly.

Lock the car with the button on the key fob and within 5 seconds touch the door sensor, this disables the kessy.

After this the car can only be unlocked by pressing the button on the key fob.

No need fro tin boxes or faraday pouches.

Forgot to say, you need to wait at least 10 seconds to test it.
