Park assist retrofit possibility?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm liking the new (to me) car and it's plenty of toys on it.  But I'd like to retrofit the Park Assist if it's possible for a sensible price.

It's currently got the 8 parking sensors (4 front and 4 back).  Anyone able to tell me if it's just a matter of adding the 4 sensors (2 on either side at front and back) and changing the controller?

Are the wiring looms likely to need replacing or will the existing ones have connectors for the extra sensors?

I haven't been able to get a VCDS scan of the vehicle yet, but have checked the old fashioned way and have found the following:

Parking controller : 5QA919 294 A

ABS pump: 5Q0 614 517 AM (MK100ESC) - I've seen things about ABS needing to support PLA 3.0.

The VAG code for 7x2 is shown erwin as below.

7X2 VWGROUP EPH "PARK DISTANCE CONTROL" PDC front and back (for Radio Bolero

andnavi with direction detection)

I'm going to get a reversing camera at some point, just not sure if I need to wait and get revserse camera AND extra sensors done at the same time if the wiring looms will need replacing.

Thanks.

So got my HEX V2 now and got a scan.

If I'm reading it right my ABS module is already coded for PLA 3.0. (from https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1V-OKyWGNWASIKmDf_YrTnT22BEh8ocQ1V1qpXOTBX84/edit#gid=1122661309 Bye 24 bit 5 is checked)

Hi,

I'm in the same situation like  "robst". My Octavia also have 4+4 sensors, so If somebody can tell me what I need to get autopark with button.

Thank you, Mitcho

I’m also interested. Anybody to clear the fog here? Thanks!

I believe you would need:

- 4x extra sensors

- a replacement parking controller

- an extra button for self parking

- wiring looms for all the above

- factory wiring diagram to check the wiring looms are correctly fitted

I'm not 100% but you might also need new rear wheel speed sensors but it'll depend whats fitted.

This appears to be a kit for LHD models: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004523206436.html I assume a RHD would just need a different self-park button...

You’re basically spot on.

All new wiring would need running and new hardware fitting.

You would also need to find a vehicle specific dataset for the module as well as all the correct coding and adaptations.

I’ve done a few of these for customers now, it’s not exactly a quick and easy job to do properly as the wires need running the full length of the car  :)
