vRS front brake upgrade....Just a thought.

Featured Replies

As title. looking to upgrade the fronts.

Car is used mainly for track days and even though the car stops with Ferodo DS2500 pads fitted, peddle pressure increases as heat rises!

I wondered if anyone might have a SCR or similar upgrade kicking around that they were going to use and now is gathering dust....Just a thought.

Another avenue might be worth looking at, not got too much info on it but i could swear blind i read about someone fitting Porsche Boxster front brakes under standard 17 spiders??? Just food for thought lol

Good reply about the Boxster brakes!

is it because I have a Boxster sitting in the garage at home? Ha ha.

I’m sure it would be happier keeping it’s brakes!!!

Aye.. if the boxsters already sitting in the garage, it surely doesnt need its brakes, no? 🤷‍♂️

There is a pair of refurbished Brembos on the bay for £500. Is that the right price for them?

Not too sure on price. You'd still want a decent set of pads in the Brembo calipers.

You could try DS3000s or DS1.1s (if they do them in this fitment).

How long are your sessions? I used to do 15-20 minutes at a time including a steady out-lap and in-lap. Any longer than that and the brakes and tyres were going off as was my concentration!

Normally go out 15–20 minutes max as you stated with warm up and cool down laps.

Existing standard brakes with DS2500 pads work well, no fade but towards the end more effort is required on the pedal to stop the car.

It seems like the problem arises on shorter tracks with more braking, The circumstances show the limitations of the brakes. Given that, I will keep a look out for some four pot Brembo’s.

Doing Mallory Park on Wednesday so will keep an eye out for when the brake pedal feel changes as an indication.
