Service intervals

Featured Replies

Hi guys I’m new here . I Have a Octavia Vrs TDI 184 DSG 2017, I’d like to know what the best service interval is for me. I drive 100 miles a day only motorway miles, brought the car on 93k but now on 96 and says “inspection due”. Also where is the best place for all the service parts? Thanks guys!

Welcome.

What service history has it got now?   When was it last serviced.

Showing invoices / receipts for work done.

Look at the air filter, what is it like, clean?

Pollen Filter?

When was the Fuel filter changed if done yet?

If no brake fluid changed test it.

.....................

The Local Motor Factor would be a good place to get Service Parts,  the Super Market a good place for VW504 00 / 507 00 oil. or a trusted seller.

Skoda Dealers Parts Desks sell stuff, http://opieoils.co.uk is a Briskoda Sponsor.

You need to decide if you want to leave oil to 18,000-20,000 miles between oil & filter services or do that sooner.

The oil is Long Life Oil.

So fixed @ 9,400 miles / 372 days or Variable and 18,000-20,000 or sooner, but services / checks pre and post winter, pre MOT etc.

This is the Guidelines / Recommendations.

Hey Thankyou so much mate! It was serviced at 93k, I’ve only just brought it and now it’s at 96 as I only do motorway mileage and is showing service due. I will check paperwork and get back to you about it. Once again, appreciate your reply buddy.

Be v.careful @Noman9Vrs - if a selling dealer says they have serviced the car, but they haven't reset the service interval on the car, then essentially, this is why the car is showing service due.  However, because it is a TDI - it might be a situation that the car is running in a different way and there maybe crud that had built up that is now been released and the oil is now needing a change (again).

I would recommend that if you can afford it, you go with genuine service Oil (VAG Longlife FEIII - 0W30) and a genuine oil filter too.  As Mr @e-Roottoot (or Sir as I like to call him) correctly states 😜, look at the mouse-mat graphic showing what is due for servicing.  Basically, extended scope service plus brake fluid change.  Be prepared for a cambelt change in the next 20k miles - a general inspection of the belt to see if it is cracking will give you an indicator if it needs changing sooner rather than later.

Generally rule is thus: change the oil and filter every 10k miles - car will see you right for a further 400k miles!!!! (google Miles the High Mileage Octavia)

Hi mate cheers for the quick reply, my bad I’ve had a busy day. I will buy the genuine stuff, roughly how much do you think it will cost? As I will be doing the DSG service from skoda for £215 too. Also, whilst I’m here. Is it possible to remap my car at this mileage, many say it’ll be fine if it’s been a well looked after car, which it is by the looks of it. Thanks buddy! Just a pic of my bug, I do love it tbf :)

Good lookin car mate, certainly hiding the mileage well. As others have said, check invoices, dealer should be able to provide proof of what they have carried out.

Also loving the E39 in the background 😎

Thankyou for your kind words mate yeah that e39 is a weapon not gonna lie. 530D Aegean Edition only 250 were made, everytime I’d drive it I’d get attention for it everywhere, it’s my dads! 😂😎

If you are doing the service yourself, go to theskodashop.co.uk and order a major service kit (search Major on their shop). All genuine parts. 124.99 for all the parts you need and oil too. If you want to go to Skoda, then get a service history (printed off) and then determine what it needs. I think it is about £180 for an extended scope service.

BTW - do you have a 6 or 7 speed DSG?

Slightly different servicing depending on the gearbox and your car was on the changeover year.

Fixed Price Oil & Inspection Service, cars 3-10 years old on Fixed Regime.  £185,  the Extended Scope bit is another £60.

Also, if there's no proof then assume it hasn't be done
