Creek turning steering wheel

Featured Replies

We have an issue that when turning the steering wheel there is a creaking type noise at low speed. Any ideas what this could be?

Cheers

Is it coming from the rear axle? Or the steering wheel itself?

I don’t know how it is in english.. but its a chance to be a planetary end… i had the same problem. It cost for me 70$ one.

There is a Skoda TPI for the strut tops which causes creaking in the suspension.

It’s definitely from the front

TPI = Technical Product Information.

A bit like an internal dealer memo that warns of defects and recalls.

Creaking can come from worn strut top bearings.

If its outside the car and quite loud I'd also say top mount. Check for obvious faults first eg broken spring.

If the noise is only slight and inside cabin, I have also heard the the steering wheel slip ring or wiring loom behind the wheel make a slight creak at times when I had a mk2 fl with multifunction steering wheel.
