Heated mirrors

Does an SeL have heated mirrors I can't find a definite answer to this, if they do then mine aren't working, the dealer can't answer that question.

I believe SE and above have heated mirrors. Have you turned the switch to the heated position?

Yes  have I know how they are supposed to work but they don't dealer say they are only fitted with the winter pack, that I don't believe and have now gone back to them with the reply from Skoda uk, I'm still waiting for their reply., in the meantime I've diagnosed a faulty switch.

Am I wrong to assume that if the mirrors aren't heated there wouldn't be a switch?

Switch is the one that also adjusts/folds the mirror, on the forward bit driver’s door armrest.  Why it’s not tied in with the rear window demist is a mystery but it’s not.  Mine’s on a bog basic SE, and works well, once I realised the rear window wasn’t helping with the rear window.

I would far rather it was separate switch or on all the time like Merc's have. Ford's have it tied in with the rear screen demist and it doesn't stay on long enough to clear the mirrors if they're wet.

My MY19 SEL has heated mirrors, the switch being on the rotary control knob.

I didn't know my MY19 1.0 SE Tech had heated external mirrors.  As noted above, found the setting on the mirror rotary knob on the armrest this morning ,thanks to this thread, but had already wiped off the condense - try to remember to use it tomorrow, just to check it works.

Anyone know how long the heated mirrors stay on for? When the heaters are switched on via the rotary knob, is there a built-in timer - or, are the heaters permanently on while the knob is in that position?

That is a good question

I could find no reference to this in the instruction manual - but did find some discussion in an earlier thread ......

"The heated mirrors do turn off after a while, check the "convenience consumer" setting and you will see " Mirror heating" when it's actually on.

Hope this helps"

I managed to find this in 'convenience consumer' - it only shows up when the mirror heaters are switched on. Next time I go for a decent drive, I'll keep an eye on that to monitor how long the heaters stay on for. I'll see if they fire up again if the ignition is switched off, and then on again.

Subsequent to my post above (12th October), we had to do a 65 mile run in the Karoq. I turned the mirror heaters on and noted that this was shown in the 'convenience consumer'. After 40 minutes, the cc continued to indicated that the mirror heaters were turned on - so, at that point, I decided to switch them off at the rotary knob.

I have concluded that there is no timing switch associated with the heaters and so, in future, I will make sure that the heaters are only used when necessary.

I'm not sure I have the settings connivence  consumer, though my switch has now been replaced and they now work, maybe it's a setting that dropped on the MY21 cars

My heated mirrors are left permanently in the ‘on’ position. The amount of juice that they consume must have an almost negligible effect on economy.

But then you lose the benefit of the nearside mirror dipping in reverse to help see how close your alloys are to the kerb.

Which models is this function available on?

2018 SE-L (Style spec. in some countries), mirror dipping available after coding, using it while reversing.

Only if you have the right kind of left-hand mirror I believe... such as the ones fitted to Editions with powered seats as they need the hardware to remember the settings for the saved seat positions. There have been other threads where people have found that even after coding the software to provide the dipping function it doesn't work without changing the actual mirror.

Not being able to get my passenger side mirror to dip in reverse was a bit of a disappointment. It was the first modification I tried with Carista.

It's an incredibly useful thing, and I don't really understand why all new cars with electric mirrors don't have it as standard. It's not like it would be particularly onerous to build it in, after all.

Much more useful than being able to change the colour of a weedy little LED strip in the dashboard.

Ambient lighting? Pah.

Saving yourself the agonising graunch of alloy on kerb? You bet.

Very true, and after having a dipping mirror on all my recent Golfs (without powered seats) it seems like the Skoda accountants won out by fitting the cheaper mirror unless you paid for powered seats. Luckily, my Area View cameras make the dipping mirror redundant though :)

Old thread, I know, but I thought I was going mad not being able to set up passenger mirror dipping on our newly acquired Karoq.

I can't quite believe the passenger mirror can't be set to dip - even the mk1 Tiguan we had before did it.

You have to be so careful when changing cars that there isn't some function missing that you took for granted.

I assume you mean that the miirror lowers so you can see kerbs. Are you sure it doesn't dip? Afaik the mirror control needs to be selected to L to allow the mirror to dip. I assume if R is selected the driver's side mirror dips.

Yes, that function.

I did initially just tried to set it up in the same way as I did on mk1 Tiguan (no menu funtion, you just go through the mirror movement motions, then ignition off and it stores it) and I know it has to have the mirror switch in the L position.

From a bit of reading of this forum It seems Karoq needs a different kind of mirror motor and for the option to be there in the convenience menu.

I thought the dipping passenger mirror was only available on cars with electric seats.
