New Skoda Octavia VRS Airbag

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I picked up my new Skoda a few days ago. Today I installed a dashcam which I installed in my previous Skoda Octavia without any problems.

I've taken off the panel on the passenger side to access the ground bolt as I've pulled the panel off the passenger airbag switch ( now factory fitted on the panel instead of inside the glove box) has disconnected from the plug. The male connector plug is ok and the same with the pins. I was able to push back into place the female connector however I now have the airbag warning light on  . The mechanism to turn the airbag on and off seems ok and not loose.

I took the car to the main dealer but they're saying it's going to cost £100 to have the error diagnosed and if it needs a new connector it's going to cost another £100. They can't fit me in until a week's time. I told them I'll get back to them!

I've phoned around a few dealerships and the cheapest I can get a connector for is £57.

I'm thinking of buying an OBD diagnostic reader but would that tell me if it's the connector that's the issue?

It might just need the code reset, its got to be worth an OBDEleven device

I bought the carista yesterday and hoping that'll clear the fault once I've replaced the switch.

I have done the same and have the same warning, please let me know if that fixes it, as I will reset mine if thats the only way around it.

Oh just incase it helps, my connectors are fine absolutely no issues and it all works perfectly so it must be justt be just the lingering warning that needs resetting.

How old is your car ?

Mines an October car so 1 year old. I cleared my warning using my VCDS and its stayed off so yours should be the same.
