It doesn't do anything unless your aircon is running in which case it will blow cold air into the cubby hole like a mini fridge to keep the contents cool, there's one in the glove box as well, a rotary knob.

Enables the ejector seat, no? :giggle:

But aye, what Sepulchrave has said. :)

If folk care that much then they need a hobby. :D

You've not only got two cool boxes but having an estate will give you the lighter socket in the rear too. :)

My 2006 Elegance Estate had the control in the glovebox, a pull up slider in the transmission tunnel "big box" but nothing on that cubby hole, I had been up close to it when working so would have seen it.

Where? I'm rather curious. :)

I cant really recall, I no longer have the vehicle, inside & to the right rear I think, it pulled upwards and sat flush when not deployed so was barely invisible until you noticed it and thought "what does this do?", it may have had a hole to hook your finger through or I may have imagined that.

I'll have a nosey when I'm next in the car. :)

Fabia?

And I was being extra carefull this time after the roasting from Ken O Neill for not seeing that someone was in the Ireland, I double checked the vehicle that the OP had, a 2006 Elegance Estate without seeing what section it was posted under 😳

Once again you have corrected me either for an assumption that the Fabia is the same as the Octavia or mistaking the vehicle, I thank you for your patience, understanding and politeness, others could learn from it.

I've never understood why they call it a "lockable" storage compartment when there's nothing to lock it, per se. When I think of a lockable cubby, I think of something you can secure with a key.

^ Haha, very true, Ryan. I didn't notice that myself. Must be something lost in translation :D

I picked up on it as well when going through the user's manual/handbook provided with my car and was expecting it to have some form of locking. I've found the manual to be about as clear as mud when it comes to trying to figure out things on the car such as the wiper stalk, which I managed to learn by effing about with it and seeing what would happen.

Yes, it's the same with ETKA, some of the translation for things is way off and you have to figure it out yourself :D

You lock it when you get out of the car :D

My glove box is lockable, isn't yours?

Well, it doesn't fall down and smack me on the knee constantly. Is there a way to lock these things that I'm naively unaware of?

Yes, I just insert my key and turn it half a turn and the glove box is locked.

Maybe it's only the elegance that has it...

I'll need to try that, and then I'll be able to confirm if it does so. :)

That and the heated seats... jealous of you posh folk with your Elegances. :giggle:

I seem to recall that my MK1 Octavia came with what they called a valet key, one that would open and start the car but not open the glovebox (if locked).

Anyone recall this? It may have been a previous vehicle, a Galaxy or Alhambra.
