I agree a re-boot may help if you've been having problems, but how would you just keep the radio only powered?

Hands up, I cocked up there, typing digit in front of brain or behind it, I forget.

  • So the rain stopped and I thought the thread was worth updating with an FYI (and title change), as it's now done.   To do it on a 2.0TDI the following are needed: (This may vary depending

  • Save your cash. You don’t need any special greases for the terminals. A thin smear of Vaseline is all that is needed. It’s offered as an optional extra and applied as part of the finishing processes f

I'm lost are we talking about a security code for a radio or recoding the battery?

As you're such a pedant  - you've got it wrong, you're quoting not paraphrasing Wino - and his delivery was much better. 😄 (smiley for others)

Ok, think some clarity is needed about my question. I meant keeping the code for the radio whilst the battery is unplugged, although I think this has already been answered by way of suggesting that the radio in a 2015 Scout will not need to be ‘protected’.

I do understand that some suggest the car will ‘learn’ the new battery without a re-program of the system, however I also understand that best practice is to tell the car it has a new battery in order to get the best charging cycle.

Thanks, my brain hadn't totally migrated to Fantasy Island then, just it's usual visit.

The general opinion as I've seen it seems to be as you've put, I think if you've done a like-for-like battery swap the recoding of the battery may not be necessary but if you've made a change, particularly in type of battery, then best to recode as soon as possible but it's not a panic situation.

On my wife's Fabia Mk3 when I removed the battery for many hours and then put the new battery in only the time of day clock needed resetting the radio stations held and were immediately there from switching on, we've got the Bolero(?) 'infotainment' without SatNav.
