Me too, though there is a thread somewhere that suggests that if you disconnect the power to the amp for a while it will on powering up come on as normal without any "signal" from the rns510.

of course that begs the question - is it then permanently on? is the output from the extrons configurable to be line voltage only (not amped) and would a different loom adapter be required?

I have no experience with Amps in cars, just home theater so I may be completely missing the mark but the Xtrons unit I have has female phono adapters for speaker channels out in its loom. Could you connect those to your amp? Like I say, I have no idea what kind of inputs you have on the amp in the car.

I have not ever looked at the amp but if i recall from previous posts it is all done with the cars loom and the rns 510 controls when it is on or off automatically.

Good idea though

That sounds like a common RNS510 failure where the touchscreen or internal memory starts to fail, even after reflashing. If buttons and audio are unresponsive, the issue may be the touch digitizer, mainboard, or HDD. A specialist repair is often needed. I faced something similar while coordinating vehicle logistics with Luxury Rides LLC and learned these units rarely recover with software alone
