Just curiosity, drivers were told by DOT that they don't have to signal all the time on the motorway. Do you use your indicator when overtaking? this should perhaps have an input to the ACC.

Yes I always indicate, you can tell the difference in the aac when you indicate, it prepares for the manoeuvre. Aac is fixed since the firmware update. Still got issues though so changing the car. Checked against a CRS hybrid and even booting is several times slower on my car! Hardware versions are different too.

  • Fyi I've been informed by skoda the firmware update has been released and everyone affected should get a recall, but you can call your local garage and get it booked in

  • That's interesting! How do you disable undertake protection? Just so you know, undertake prevention does work fine for me, so somewhere it's thinking it's left and right hand drive

  • Oh well. By the way, DVSA is aware of the ACC bug and are in discussions with Skoda about it, so hopefully it will get fixed and there will be a recall at some point...

I don’t know if it’s me or if the dealership I’m using are incompetent or they are taking the  pud but I’ve just got my car back from apparently having its update done and… nothing has changed. Still on SW 1804.

How come others on here are being notified the update is available but when I talk about it to my dealership they look at me as if I’ve just crawled out of a piece of cheese?

i feel I need to speak to the mechanics directly. Any ideas?

What's the rest of your versions? I've attached a pic of mine, it's on the latest firmware. I understand some of the older hardware can't take the latest firmware, ask them to confirm with Skoda, they will know what firmware is allowed on your hardware.

Here’s my versions. Interestingly some of mine are higher than yours!?

Insist it's done. The update fixed all issues with my ACC. I've done maybe 1200 miles since I had the update with no issues at all.

Looks like they've not released the latest display unit firmware for my hardware version yet, the new car I'm getting is hardware version between yours and mine and has the newer firmware (giving my car back because of a load of other faults with it and getting a different one) but yes your hardware version is same as mine, so I'd believe it should have the new firmware, 1896 is the latest

Aac and some other issues are fixed on mine, random other errors aren't fixed though and they had it back for over a week trying to find those problems. Had a complaint going with Skoda and Skoda finance for months so giving the car back and getting another one.

What other faults do you have? I've an issue with travel assist, but it's not related to the firmware. Only *fault* i have left is the sync on my climate turns off at the start of every journey.

Sync doesn't turn off, if you use the left hand temp control it maintains sync. On the hybrid I'm getting as a replacement the sync word stays on, but on mine it doesn't.

Currently I randomly get manoeuvring break and parking sensors unavailable on ignition on, android auto wireless randomly doesn't work, randomly takes up to 5 minutes "loading settings" on ignition on, during which time I can't prep sat nav etc for the journey. I've been getting lots of 12v battery low notifications (battery and battery sensor have been replaced). They are the most common/most annoying ones.

I have a bizarre bug when using carplay. If I’ve been using it over BT and then plug in the USB next time I start the car, music will play for a second then pause. I have to keep tapping the play button till it continues. I think I understand that the media unit is sending the play signal twice, one over BT/wifi and the other over USB which is making the phone pause the music.

i get around it by unplugging, start playing then plugging back in.

just another frustration.

My Sync turns off instantly if i use the left hand controls. Sync works as it should bar the fact it doesn't 'remember' it was on after a power cycle.

The update fixed all those other issues for me thankfully!

Strange! You'd imagine the phone would allow one device to control ove done or the other, not both simultaneously! I know with AA one disconnects control of the other, if I disconnect usb then AA disconnects and reconnects

Sounds like it potentially has different issues with different hardware versions. My display unit is H44, after ignition off and on the word sync disappears, pressing the right controls changes the right only, but if I press the left controls it maintains the sync (until I press the right, then it turns off fully). My replacement car the sync stays on after ignition off and on is H45 (edited as put the wrong version) hardware.

This is what I’m on. Wonder if there is a setting the garage needs to alter.

You have the same part number as me but a different hardware revision, the hybrid I'm getting has a different part number but the same firmware, so could potentially be something else different.

They really have made this all very confusing lol

what do we all expect and should remember it is skoda we are talking about.

  • 5 months later...

I bought my Octavia RS new in July 2021. Have to say, not impressed either and this was my 4th Škoda.

I too had the adaptive cruise control bug along with terrible vibration in the dash, issues with led matrix head lights, excessive noise from the boot and although it’s got decent acceleration, it was a bit dull to drive.

I also had issues with infotainment system freezing, apple car play issues where music would pause or be slow to play and issues with system saying batteries in both keys needed replacing after they were already replaced.

I had enough with the issues and sold it to a main dealer in March this year.

My 2019 Superb Sportline was a great car.

After years with Skoda, moving to the Kia EV6. Kia and Hyundai leaving the Japanese and Germans behind in build quality.

Threw mine back a the dealer in June because they simply couldn't fix the random errors on it. Basically swapped for the hybrid version, which was a huge mistake, it then spend 3 months with them trying to fix a 12V battery issue where the battery was nearly always flat (turns out this is also a known problem with a specific fix, but it wasn't applicable to my car so they couldn't do it!!!). Think they have masked the problem now rather than fixing it as I sporadically get a 12V warning but it disappears within seconds so can't get a picture of it. This generation of Octavia is in my experience useless, they have rushed it out and gone as cheap as possible on the software, hoping the next generation is better. I don't think the VAG group has fully recovered from dieselgate yet.
