Fuel filter problems, again !

Featured Replies

What is it about the 1.6tdi that causes an issue whenever the fuel filter needs changing?

I have changed the filter on multiple 1.9tdi and 2.0tdi engines with no issues at all, yet every time I change it on my 1.6tdi it will not start afterwards!

This time the filter bowl was only opened a small amount when I realised ECP had supplied the wrong filter, and immediately I closed it up again ... yet no matter what I try; cycle the ignition and activating the fuel transfer pump with VCDS for minutes at a time it will NOT start.

Are you filling the new filter with diesel before re-connecting the feed pipes.??

Yes, allowing the new filter to fill with diesel then topping right up.

A friend recommended a quick blast of easy start, however the car didn't pick up and run.

I've borrowed a hand pump kit, I'll be giving it a go tomorrow.

If running the pumps via VCDS does not prime it ether is not going to help.

Crazy. The car was running well until I lifted the filter cover slightly, all I did was tighten it back down.

I'm going to attach the hand pump to the filters return feed, and hopefully bleed all the way through the system.
