[F2] 1.6TDI ECU replacement.

Featured Replies

Hello there,

I have Skoda Fabia II 2014 with 1.6 TDI Common Rail. I would like to change it's default 75bhp to 105bhp by replacing ECU from CAYA -> CAYC.

It is safe to do? Will it work? I've read in some places that there's no differences in mechanical components.

Have you done something like this before?

Thanks for the answers.

just get it remapped

Would be cheaper to get it remapped for sure. And can get more than 105.

I called few specialist to remap it. They only can remap from 75bhp to 135BHP ( they prepared it before and shared eachother ) and they are not interested in creating new map for 115bhp.

That's bad information for me because in my opinion this would wear engine components much more quickly.  They say it's safe...

Also they told me that is worth to exchange the intercooler.

After MOD oil must be changed every 10 000km / year.

What do you think about this? :-|

135 bhp will be plenty safe

I thought all 1.6 variants were all the same engine but with different tunes.  If you fit an ecu from a 105 then remap it you will get the same results as simply remapping the 75.  Unless you are happy staying at 105.

That is correct. It would probably work out cheaper than getting either a new 105 ECU or second hand ECU and then coded to the car anyhow (unless you have the software to match an engine ECU to the immobiliser system).

That's unbelievable. 😮67219215_2325516274366962_6985426838478651392_n.png?_nc_cat=103&_nc_oc=AQlQd_4nyZU_mqNtOHqZTYyT8cCi1-JMylCjoqFlCAaIiAh6oyg-Dfa7-vEQhkfAkiY&_nc_ht=scontent-frt3-1.xx&oh=9cdfe42ab3750573cb3b851f319952bf&oe=5DB41916

What do you think about this? 😐

My car was standard for 54k ran state 1 at 150bhp and 253ft lbs for 12k and has ran 204bhp 366ft lbs 496 nm for over 20k now and was fine on the engine components even the standard clutch was in till 3k ago and that was fine only reason i changed it is because the gearbox was out anyway getting an LSD fitted. Intercooler will be fine on stage 1 at 150bhp.

the 1.6 tdi has always been 10,000 km/9400m oil changes.

And what experiences you have about fuel use after stage 1?
Our skoda has 40k km right now, and fuel use is around 4.7L/100km in mixed area.
I bought this car in this year, when it had 36k, and i feel i will have to change clutch (some old man was using this car- he used the clutch too much i guess).
We are considering chiptune (with kabaret10), and from what you guys say it look promissing.
What about EGR and DPF after tune ?

i got an offer to make it around 120-125KM and around 300-315NM, its fair enough ?

fuel usage got better around town all the way from standard to 200bhp its always been mid to high 40's on the motorway it was mid 60's, stage 1 it was mid 60's to mid 70s mpg then at 200bhp it is around mid 60's at 80ish if you sit at 60mph it will easily do over 100mpg, highest ive had is 157mpg from newcastle to glasgow

My dear friend @AMD87, thank you for your replys!
I already booked in tuning service.
I got few last questions:

- Can turbine handle it (ofcourse im using it propely) ?
- What about EGR/DPF ?
These are the last doubts from my side, if you could clarify them, i would be thankfull.

Btw. Your's Skoda is amazing one ! :)

when it was stage 1 150bhp and 253ft lbs turbo was fine and is now currently in a friends monte carlo still going strong as i've swapped to a bigger turbo now. No issues with the EGR or DPF when it was stage 1, They "fell" off when the turbo was changed 😇

Only issues i've had with it has been a map sensor and an egt sensor in 85k of driving and lets be honest sensors are like chocolate fire guards on vag cars.

Other 2 issues ive had is a broken downpipe (my fault at santa pod launching the car and the engine movement put pressure on the downpipe cracking it so i dont see this as a fault with the car) other issue i currently have is my steering isn't straight but again my fault for pretending to be a btcc driver at knockhill and launching it on 2 wheels constantly on the kerbs.

Again, thank you for your help @AMD87.
I will post here my feelings, after tune, after 3/6/12 months, and so on.
Hopefully someone will get inspired in this thread, while considering chip tune.
Btw, i would love to have monte carlo look of my skoda, i really regret not getting a monte carlo now (after looking at yours).

Your issues are mosly related to hardcore driving, expect chocolate fireguards :D

No problem happy to help. I was the same when I started but no one had really did what mine is at the extent it is now and even then there is a couple of custom made parts on mine because no one actually made them so had to get them made.

My driving isnt that hardcore 🤣

but it does impress me what it seems to handle and I always see people blowing gearbox’s or turbos and I always think how as mines is probably the most abused 1.6 tdi fabia around but has had no expense spared on it everything is the best you can get.
