Just fitted new anti roll bar bushes

Featured Replies

I had a clunk noise on the nearside front prob down to the sorry state of the roads , Anyway I took wheel off and got pry bar out nothing really obvious with drop link/ball joints etc ,All I could find was a very small amount of play in the anti roll bar bush so I ordered a set and did em today (both sides)  and the clunk is no more 😉 .

They didn't look perished or worn to be honest but but you can see the difference on the noisy one ,The flat side is thinner and softer. Only posting this incase it helps others for a cheap fix (£8)

Well done.

I think the level of movement needed to make an annoying noise is very minimal, and rarely possible to detect until the droplink is disconnected at one end.

I do seldom have a clunk in front and i cant find where it is, shop said car was in really good condition too. Maybe its time for me to change some of the now 14 year old bushes. thanks for the heads up!

Anyone know what bushes can be changed with polyurethane ones without making the car harsh to drive?

I would always change the console bushes for PU as it's a huge improvement in handling, the rest are not really worth bothering with.

I have PSBushings ones, almost every bush they do aside from the rear beam bush (which will be done soon). They're cheap and do the job well.

If you do the wishbone bushes you'll really only need the rear one, front ones hardly ever wear out although I did do both on mine.

My old ones practically fell out of the wishbone:

Vs the new PSBushing ones:

I've found PS bushings to be pretty good for vibrations.

I changed my arb bushes for PSB ones too, had new Rubber ones bought but put these ones in instead, only reason being I got a "kit" of bushes for another fabia, and got the right size arb bush for my car.

Are the bushings hard to get out?

Never done them before. And considering getting all mine done.

Not really just get both front wheels off and unbolt em from the bulk head at the bottom . It's all pretty easy stuff just nuts and bolts

You need a crowbar to get the cap back on the bush whenever you're putting them back on.

I've done mine recently and thats how I did mine.

I wedged it against the steering rack and levered it on.

Ok thanks

I changed my front wishbones for the PSB Bushings, had to change them a couple of days later for OEM ones, the vibrations were terrible under 30mph.

My front roll bar bushes need changing I think as I've got a clonking noise at low speeds over semi undulating terrain.

I always stick with OEM stuff it's worked for 9 years up to changing them so that's good enough for me.
