fitting a new battery on a skoda fabia 2004

Featured Replies

hi can anyone help on this issue. i want to put a new battery on my 2004 skoda fabia but these days even on cars this old its not that simple.  do i fit it and just start up and drive off or do i have to code it in first. or do i have to get exactly the same battery as i am replacing. ? 😒😕😲. nothing is simple these days. at one time you bought a battery took old one off and put new one on and that was it.  i had a fiesta once and my god that was a nightmare to replace battery on. the ECU it all went heywire. i had to get hold of a ford technician and he told me do this and do that before car was ol again.  cheers hope to hear off someone about this.

My ex's 2005 Fabia didn't have any battery coding - principally because it didn't have stop/start, so I don't expect your 2004 Fabia will need coding either.

The only things that you'll need to do after the battery change is reset the time and reset the one-touch window opening/closing.

Virtually any battery that physically fits, with +ve and -ve terminals in the same positions will do.

This one is probably the right size. Check the dimensions against your current battery, particularly the length of 207mm. Also check the orientation of the battery terminals.

Put your reg # into this site https://www.tayna.co.uk/ and you'll probably find they are the cheapest, fit and as @Pete_Ex-Wino says reset the clock & one touch windows

Hi!

I think your battery change don't require any coding. For example in my 2011 Octavia battery change went through without any coding, I even changed a battery with bigger capacity. That, I know, is problem with some brands on newer models.

yeah thats worth knowing in case i have another skoda this age or older. stop start is crap lol i can see the idea of it in a way. to save on fuel at traffic lights and roadworks etc but to me its a sales gimmick. 😂😂

Thats great and somethjng i can actually do without any arsing about and resetting lol.  oh and on this car it annoyingly locks by itself don.t know why. got in the other day and put key in ignition and all doors locked. 😠😠  pressed unlock button on me drivers door and it unlocked. very odd and annoying why it does that.
