Oil burning

Featured Replies

Hi

I’m having problems with my SKoda Octavia VRS 2015 its burning 1 L of oil everything 500 to 600 miles it’s drop to this over the last 6months. No loss of power a little bit of blue smoke 💨 now and again, no oil leaks. Is the engine on its way out to be consuming this amount of oil every 500 miles

You don't say what engine you have, how many miles its done etc.

There are quite a few threads on this subject which can be found using the search facility.

Petrol or diesel, the vRS is available as either a TSI or TDI and both are 2 litre.

It's a lot of oil! Probably just out of spec of even the ridiculous quoted figures by vw / skoda as acceptable.  It used to the the Gen 2 ea888 2.0L and 1.8 tsi that were the problem oil burners. But I have seen a few posts on the later diesels in mk3s on here.  Do some searching. pretty sure it was a piston / ring problem(s).  Assuming as you say, no external leaks, and turbo is ok, that's most likely.  What oil change history does it have?  Long life service intervals?

Hi the client

Full service history oil change every 10,000 no oil leaks from anywhere Engine or turbo. All checked by Skoda  technician when the timing belt was changed,!crank seals were leaking a  little bit and where replaced. Would the oil then Burn through the broken Piston ring or rings. I have not lost any power a little bit of blue smoke now and again the last week or so nothing outrageous oil burn went from 1900miles then 1600 miles then 1100miles to 900miles  now it 500miles. I’m no mechanic it’s save to say it ****ed!  Is it a new engine??

Lots of other oil usage reports. But fixes point towards piston/ rings.
